Doing a EVGA Step-Up on the 980s to 2 x GTX 980 Ti. Figured might as well with me planning to grab a G-Sync monitor later this year. I was really happy with the GTX 980 performance but figured might as well just jump on it while I can still do the Step Up program. Can't wait to get them should be able to run GTA 5 fully maxed out I'd hope.
Well I splurged on a single 980Ti, but I'll have to wait for EK to get the full cover blocks out asap before i can get it fitted. I'm feeling all nostalgic with my GTX580's now Q.Q
Ah good to know, I thought it was the same PCB but I know the pain of getting a block that doesn't fit so I hesitated and thought I'd wait till there's a bit more confirmation. I guess the Titan X backplates fit too :nerd:
I'm receiving a used system tomorrow with a 980 GTX card. Do you think I should sell the card and get the Ti version? I only game at most at 1920x1200 so it may be overkill right now.
Bought 2! Should be here tomorrow. Couldn't stand that I couldn't max out GTA 5 at 4k, and only getting about 30-40FPS in TW3 maxed out at 4k.
Just pre-ordered an Asus 980ti the plan is to get rid of the reference cooler and water cool it, will get another later when my tax return is payed out
Yes, but that's too much performance for me, and too much heat. Especially in this time of year. Reference 970 would be perfect pour moi Even better seing -Tj- in Cata threads> Can you imagine
Why dont you underclock the gpu by at least 500mhz and 1000 mhz on the vrams, that way you get less performance without taking the card out?
I know...I couldn't stand it at default GPU:800MHz, Mem 1000MHz, -100mV, is what I use for most demanding games - without headphones(!) It gets the power down to something like 140W at 99% GPU usage. Oh and yeah, one can (and should) do the same with 980 Ti (have several gaming profiles) so yeah that's a good card even for those who prefer low power. Hmm I guess I could use one...
Oh I understand. Recently swapped my 780 for a 970 because I hate the antiquated reference cooler in the summer. Thing also didn't overclock very well because of the fact. No ragrets. Don't need that much performance for 1080p after all. Almost got one though.
Indeed. GPUs are finally starting to catch up with resolutions. Take Titan X, 980 Ti. We can finally play most if not all games at 4K having High settings (and with or w/o AA). Single GPU + 4K @250W
Is there a major difference in the cooler design, meaning the EVGA one, Would I benefit greatly from having the custom cooler version or the original one?
