Isn't the 1070 a very slightly better and more power efficient 980ti anyways that doesn't quite OC so well:nerd:.

I'd save up for 1080Ti since I'm certain it will be a great card.

But if you own a freesync monitor you might want an AMD card for sure.

Ummmmmmm, I'd make sure you have a chin strap so your jaw doesn't hit the floor. I went from a 290@1125/5800 to my current 980Ti@1400/7800 about a month ago and I'm still pleasantly surprised, except when games like Fallout 4 and Division struggle because of their trash engines.

To make this post relatively short, I went from playing in 1080p@high and sticking to 60FPS most of the time in most games (a few AMD specific exceptions running better, of course) to playing all games in at least 1440p@ultra locked to 60FPS. I'm on a big old TV so 60FPS with DSR is all I'm looking for. Some games even let me run them in 1620p or 1880p depending on how well the engine runs or how old the game is.

I've been a pretty staunch AMD supporter for more than a decade (not fanboy, just always gelled more with their hardware/software decisions) but I had so much trouble with my 290, then was let down with Polaris that I jumped on a $320 virtually mint 980Ti a close friend was selling.

You should be in for a nice ride assuming everything works. I'm interested to see what kind of OC you can get with it. :nerd:

Enjoy Ryu and welcome to the club. The performance bump will be pretty nasty ;)

This will be a good card to ride things over to whatever next gen is :D I am interested also what kind of oc I can get out of it. I think this has been the longest time that I have not upgraded my gpu actually since the 290x has been serving overly well in the end. But will be fun to see how some games work that haven't been working that well.

No noise really and temps stay under 80. My case is not exactly good for these kinds of coolers Raven RV01. Tomb Raider the old one works good, I have a good bottleneck in my cpu. Avg frames for TR was 216 all maxed except that darn tressfx. For Metro Last Light Redux 80 without physx. All on 1200p. So yeah gained some 100fps in TR. In Metro quite a bit also :)

So I guess you are happy with it. Congrats! I too should have something nice and shiny next (or actually this week - not going to be 1060). The performance increase should be rather large compared to my old GTX 970 and judging by the reviews it should be quieter under full load than that Gigabyte GTX 970 in idle.

    :D Oh yeah. 1070?

I am happy with the card. Should unlock some more potential with platform upgrade during winter. But happy now to be able to play witcher 3 all maxed steady 60fps.

Never been more happy with a card then this one. :)
It sits between the 1070 and 1080 so i'm happy with its performance.

    Best 500 euro i've ever spend. ^^

My best 500€ was the 290x :D I got back in 2013 or something. This is close second now.

    Same settings as HH's review.

    1080p

    GTX 1080: 133FPS

    1440p
It was 89ish FPS but I can't find the screenshot. Might re-run the bench if necessary.

    GTX 1080 stock: 90FPS

I would say we are pretty good for now.

I bought EVGA 980Ti Classified, so should i re-apply thermal paste with Noctua NT-H1?

    Thank you.

I don't think you should unless you have some big issues with heat and think that would do the trick.

I think Hilbert uses a custom bench on that title not the built in.

Really? I could swear I saw somewhere mentioned it was the build in bench that's why.

Edit: It's Hitman that says "internal benchmark".

Oh well. Will re-test tonight. :p
