I dont see this really going anywhere. Some might return there cards yet people are still buying the 970. This false advertisement not that easy to prove .. I mean the way some are trying to say it.

To just use this to get your money back.. and for what the quite sounds of AMD keeping you HOT summer winter of fall? hehe

That "special discount" isn't very special. It's a 10% discount on an XFX card that's overpriced and a "free" XFX hat. No thanks.... If MSI were to do the same, I'd consider it....but not for the card XFX is offering.

But it is a fact that the card does refuse to go over the 3.5gb mark on some games, so the fact is that something is wrong.

Returning my GTX 970 now for a full refund for $463 and getting a 290X for $300 with a $30 MIR dropping it to $309 after taxes. A satisfying ending.

It's a sidegrade, but I get satisfaction out of it.

Well, I hope you get as much satisfaction out of that 290x
Just don't start crying when some games perform with a tad lower fps compared to your current card while others get a 2-3 fps improvement.

I'm not an idiot. I'm aware they outperform each other in different games.

No way would I return a 970 at your oc. Its probably faster than a 290x as they do not oc nearly as well.

Maybe its for the best for us that some people will refund their 970s and go to AMD, threads about Nvidia will be cleaner. No offence just do it,you make your mark hitting Nvidia's budget and that's all. Move on and do as you pleased, just stop complaining with similar posts all over...

You should really go and read the AMD threads ;-) they are just as bad ...
    I was on a 280 before a 970 and it was the same ****

yeah, overclock both 970 and the 290x and the 970 will be faster more often than not. Then there's nvidia inspector, that thing alone is a big plus for me. Shame RadeonPro is kinda dead.

So if you would, right now, have to choose between the 2, it's still 970?

I for one would be too lazy to go and change it if I could, I doubt our stores will ever accept refunds, but as an idea, I'm a bit mad that I got lied, especially since I waited almost 10 months for my card with the PC sleeping, as my previous failed late 2013.

I believe an oc 780ti can match a stock 980 too. Bring on gm200.

I won't give you **** like some. I'll just say good luck with the 290X. Hopefully things go better than with past AMD cards.

It's still 970 because it's the best card at its price-range right now.

Not really. With recent drivers its barely faster than 970 (it was quite faster before) but thats another controversy and another talk...
