Would it be worth it to leave my 760 in the case as a dedicated physx card?
In my opinion no. Tested using the same or similar awhile back...
p.s worth keeping maybe as you never know when u need an old card to test. Currently trying to fix a pc atm and glad I got my ol 580..
^ This.. No need to keep in in the PC, but make sure you keep it close by!
Seeing as how you have the 760, I would run that as a physx card. It should be strong enough to show benefits in gpu accelerated physx games. You could test physx games with the 970 by itself and with the 760. I think it would be beneficial for physx. In non physx games the 760 will not consume much power at all.
If you play games that allow for hardware accelerated physx, then I'd leave it in. If not, it's just taking up space.
No doubt. I always try to keep a backup on hand.
id personally use it as a physx card. 760 wont sell for much so no point in selling it.
You can always try OP.....
p.s mafia 2 with more physx power..?I tried borderlands 2 and actually was worse I think. Mafia2 at least the benchmark went up by a good 10 or so fps...perhaps batman but then was never a big batman fan.
@geryboy because actually the boost a physx card gives u isnt worth it at least with the games I tested. (and have read other reports to the same effect).
I'd love to hear from the OP if he gives it a try.
Gave my 760 to my son when I got the 970.
a) Hand it down to the needy. The 760 is still a very capable card.
b) Sell it. The 760 is still worth about $100-120 on the open market. This drops pretty quickly. Next year, $60-80.
c) Use it as a dedicated Physx card.
RE: Physx. It will help in some titles, but would you have been willing to pay $100 for that small boost? That's what not selling it essentially boils down to unless you have no other GPUs lying around as a backup. Always good to have a spare GPU lying around.
I would sell or donate it.
I usually sell my old stuff to a friend for really cheap who can use it, but sadly i had to make money off my 780 to get a new case and motherboard.
Grats on your 970, i got mine few days ago too.
But if it was worth it i don't know yet, some games don't show much improvements sadly.
780 to 970 is more of a sidegrade than upgrade, you'll see some benefits in games heavy on the tesselation, not much more.
lol not one person in this thread said anything about a 780.
not worth using a 760 gpu just for physix put that card in another pc
