lol, ya i know what you meen. however, i recently put one of my old 7800GT's in my wifes rig, did some tweaking and i can actually run it totally playable in DX9 now :)

    1024x768 2xAA 8xAF
    low lighting
    shadows off *biggest fps killer*
    soft smoke world only
    textures on extra

runs quite smooth actually. i was quite supprised ... oh, and with 84.21. anything newer and it runs like ass!

completely locks up, like as in a hard reset needed ?

duh, i must need glasses! i see now you had to reset. odd, you have everything in place. can't imagine what it could be. COD2 runs amazing well for me, and we're very similar in specs ...

To bad still no CSS fix

You don"t have the haze bug where in the distance all boxes and players turn in to a reflective grey colour

But if you overclock 1MHz it would switch properly.
So we can play safe and roll back to 97.02 or overclock slightly to push driver and generate correct memory frequency.

the black screen in Cod and BF2 etc has to do with the game's engine.
If I'm getting you right, this happens when returning to the game with alt+tab ?
you can NOT minimize Cod and maximize it again.

there are apps that do that. one of them is called "cod minimizer" -

hope that helps, and the problem does happen using alt+tab :D
    let us know :)

Are we absolutely sure about this, since both .28 as well as the new official .44 drivers show this? How did you test for this, anyway?

I mean, if this really were the case, wouldn't there be a tremendous loss of performance?

    hey sup

I found one for CoD2, the site is in Spanish (I think) and you need to register to download.
    Code:

The driver has run great for me since day one... no major issues on desktop or in game. I did see BF2 CTD once but thats just BF2 and nothing unusual anymore. Also, with a 100+ point increase in 3dmark06 its a pretty good enhancement over the last driver which now puts the 8800's at having (3) drivers now to play with. Keep em coming nVidia we need more to test! :)

I'm not so sure about this. I'm actually getting higher FPS with these drivers in most games. Now, how is that possible if the memory is running at 400mhz?

the best for CoD2 is on your keyboard, "the windowskey" no extra software needed, that key works great with CoD2 minimizing and maximizing.
