Not sure about Warhead, but when I went from a 640mb to the 512mb GTS version, I had quite a bit of gain in performance. It was really noticeable. 800mhz on core, and the 128sp made quite a bit of difference in Crysis. I was running at 1680x1050 with most settings on very high, and shaders like at medium/high or something.

I would suggest you look at the F.e.a.r. and Ghost Recon benchmarks as well then :)

    @ Calle2003 ... Your 88GTS 512 will be faster than both the 88GTS640 and the 96GT :)

I didn't check the benchies for old games, sorry :p
I guess I would benefit with 4 GB RAM when playing Crysis Warhead, I have seen reviews where they prove it consumes more than 2 GB RAM, the levels I am talking about they drop to about 3 FPS and are totally unplayable, but I could run original Crysis on everything on MAX and still playable, original Crysis consumes less memory since Warhead has more detailed textures and I figured best to handle a lot of textures are GPUs/VPUs with lots of RAM i.e. >512 MB.

Started a new thread about Dual Channel and Command Rate, try not to get too much offtopic in this thread :p

I didn't care sh!t about reading what all u posted.
    Since u have a 850Watt PSU.
STICK both of them to ur mobo and use 9600GT as GFX and 8800GTS as PhysX.
Don't ask why just do it.

A 9600GT does not perform better than an 8800GTS 640mb unless you play at low res or in less demanding games, only bacause in those situations a higher clock rate can be more important, but once you go above 1280x1024 and turn up the iq the gts 640mb will be the better card in most situations.

I tested an 8800GTS 640MB and a 9600GT against eachother, and I remember that in Oblivion with texture enhancements and AA, the 9600GT took a pretty good nosedive in 16x12 resolution compared to the 8800GTS which still went strong. Probably because of 128MB less memory and 64 bits less memory bandwith. In 12x10 the 9600GT seemed to have a slight upper hand though.

hey guys its the thread starter here, i cant believe my thread has lasted this long lol.

well here is an update on my situation

I have a Geforce GTX 260 at the moment, i sold my 8800 GTS 640 MB (good bye old friend lol), my brother had the 9600 GT for awhile but then he upgraded to a 9800 GT.

So yea.... i did do a few tests when i had both cards though with fear and Half life 2 and the performance was the same, so i stuck with my 8800 GTS 640 at the time. I love my GTX 260 alot better though its awsome.

Good to hear that you like your GTX260. :)

    It's a very nice card, indeed. :D
