    Wait, so the 88GT gets a die shrink and still gets nice and hot?
    Did the increase in speed really get that high?

    Well in my opinion they are hot because the plan of nVidia to make cheap powerful card and so they made cheap cooler for 8800GT (reference cooler).

    But with aftermarket cooler or like the one I have they are cool and quiet :)

    i win lol . jking....26/33C h2o cooled lol havent paid attendtion to load but iknow it sometimes never goes over 43C

    b-e-s-t
    40c -> 49c zone = awesome
    50c -> 59c zone = great
    60c -> 69c zone = good (good target for air cooled cards)
    70c -> 79c zone = average
    80c -> 89c = warm (G80 cards can run here just fine, it's warm, but they're hot running)
    90c -> and up = too hot (artifacting and app crashing can occur at this temp. time to check all fans, sinks, and air passages for dust clogs and/or re-think the cooling scheme).
    w-o-r-s-t

    this was test coolant was at 10.8c

    Holy crap that's hot!

    And they're great for roasting marshmallows too!

    Nice!!!

    What? Say again, I can't hear you!

    Totally sweet - a completely silent 8800GT and it looks like you have no worries about temps. Great job!

    Not fair! He obviously lives near the North Pole!

    You can do better than that on air - just get a Zalman VF900 or VF1000.

    It's obvious that the basic stock cooler on the 8800GT kinda blows (no pun intended). That's one good thing about the 8800GTS 512 - it actually comes with a great stock cooler.

    GPU idling right now @ 40.3C, pcb is @ 37.5C according to GPU-Z.
    Load is around ~70C.

    Not using RivaTuner, just stock fanspeeds from bios.

    I'm also using an Antec 900, but no side fan or interior center fan here.
