Yes no overclocking on that board, requires Z170 boards.
You sure? I was snooping around on overclockers and the UEFI AMI BIOS is said to be very configurable. And changeable- Side note... I've never overclocked anything ever.
EDIT- Apparently the x99 boards are view only... WELL- I could go for a Gigabyte Z170 board and stay in my price range, but the reviews are kind of iffy.
Yes no overclocking support for CPU, only memory.
OC on this platform is very easy.
For $120 you can get other z170 motherboards, not just that one gigabyte. But obviously you shouldn't expect too much from a budget board.
Edit: also base clocks do not deceive you, because both 6600 and 6600k boost up to 3.9 GHz, so you may not even need that 6600k
Just built a budget PC using the 6600 and a B150. If you don't need to overclock go with that and use the supplied HSF that the non-k SKU CPU's come with.
If you are playing at 720p or don't mind lowering the graphics it's fine...
If you want to play at 1080p with decent graphics, yes it is terrible. It will bottleneck games a lot. Get a new 6GB 1060.
960 is not treible. Is it the fastest card or best card for 1080? No. But it will work fine.
