Will something like community donation help...? Patreon, something like that I guess. I mean - is it an option ?

Thats a fair comment, but there are ways to work around issues like this.

Dude needs to get the frack out of the country i mean what is he even still doing in Russia?

He has the skills to work anywhere else in the world and have a better life not to mention chances are he could be in the Meat Grinder soon if he is really unlucky.

If they do want to keep the project alive, they could move the development to do a different geo like many companies have been forced to do. That is, if they own the IP rather than you.

If you own the IP, an option might be to open source it. Open source licenses are various, you could make it GPL if you want to ensure the code isn't used for commercial purposes.

Honestly they cannot do much about it, since they would rather chose to follow legal rules.

This clearly isn't the devs fault, but since he lives in Russia, he cannot do more, and it's definetly not Nvidia/MSI-s fault. Either Russia will stop killing innocent people (not likely) or OP moves away from Russia (which definetly isn't an easy task).

He does what he can do, and we should respect his decision.

Update from MSI regarding this: "Our product marketing & accounting team are dealing with this problem now. Due to the war, our payment couldn't transfer to the author's bank account successfully. We are still keeping in touch with him and figuring out how to solve this"

In Russia, Swift transactions still go through if you have an account with Raiffeisenbank or Tinkoff, which are not sanctioned at this time.

That said, the Patreon and similar suggestions are no longer viable, as the payout options (PayPal and Payoneer) are no longer available to those in Russia.

Some subscription services still work in Russia, such as Boosty. But they take a high commission, both for input (up to 10%) and for withdrawal (depending on the withdrawal method).

do you have a gofundme or patreon or any other way to directly pay you? what about moving MSI afterburner to subscription model, i would pay for a subscription.

also do you want unrestricted 24/7 access to a computer with an rx 7900 with teamviewer? because i can set up something like that if you need that to continue developing

Unwinder, just want to say we support you no matter the circumstances. Have used your software my whole life and it ment a whole lot. Take the time you need and if you need to let Afterburner go for the time being, so be it. Just so you know, your craft and skill will not be gone. Yes Afterburner will not be updated for a while, but I'd rather have you doing the right thing to get your stuff straight than putting yourself in oblivion.

Been using Afterburner for years. I've always prefered it over any other overclocking software. I totally understand the reasons why, but this would be a huge loss to the community if it comes to pass.

I love MSI Afterburner & RTSS and I would never want to part with it. Tried GPU Tweak but it's not the same thing.

So a huge thanks to Unwinder for all your work so far.

    Dear forum visitors,

There were a lot of discussions about the future of MSI Afterburner project in different places during the last days. Let me summarize things and address the most frequently asked questions:

    - I see that a lot of you are offering to donate to compensate possible project loss. I really thank you and appreciate it, but it is not necessary. Probably you see the situation in too dramatic light and believe that it is much worse for me than it actually is due to misunderstanding of MSI Afterburner development process. MSI AB is not fulltime development job and it is not the only thing I do for living, my primary job is software development in medical R&D company. MSI AB and RTSS are pet projects which I supported during my free time in the evenings and weekends during last 25 years. That’s not a case of losing the only source of income and becoming hungry and homeless. So thanks again, but donations are not necessary, partial income loss is sad and sensible but not critical for my life conditions.
    - A lot of you offer to rebrand application, sell it in STEAM or monetize it in other forms. I don’t see it as even remotely possible scenario. According to our license agreement I exclusively own source code (so technically I can do anything with it) but the company exclusively owns product name, branding and distribution rights. So doing so will result in license agreement violation from my side. I respect the agreements I sign and won’t do it under any conditions, it is a question of reputation.
    - Some users believe that I should relocate from Russia to continue working on the project. I don’t see it as an option too. I had multiple job offers and could live and work abroad decades ago, I have the possibility to migrate to any country, but I was born here and 4 generations of my family were born and lived in this place. It is a small Russian city located on Azov sea coast near Russia/Ukraine border, it is located extremely close to Mariupol and warzone. Yes, living conditions suck badly here even comparing to big Russian cities like Moscow, but it is my birthplace, home and I love it. My grand and grand gradparents are buried here, my aged relatives live here and I simply cannot allow myself to leave them and escape. It is not a question of political preferences; it is a question of loving your home and your family.
    - MSI are indeed trying to solve the problem now. But they tried to solve it a few times during 2022 and each previous attempt failed. Being a realist I understand that current attempt may fail as well, so I simply prepared myself to the worst case and accepted the fact that project is possibly dead. Please, no need to blame MSI for this situation. It is a stallmate case, when they want to continue cooperation but see no ways to do so at the moment.

Hoping yourself and MSI can get things worked out. It's for the best interest for everyone I'd like to think.
Super big thank you for all the hard work and time you have invested in Rivatuner and Afterburner over all these years! That is a lot of love and dedication. No other program even comes close. Your post say's a lot about what a stand up human being you are:)

Steam Store doesn't work in Russia. They've been having payment issues since January 2020, when most payment systems stopped working. And last, banking cards, stopped working last year. Valve do not sell in Russia and do not work with developers. Hence why Atomic Heart left Steam for CIS in favor of VK Games.

Those who never heard about MSI Afterburner and never used it before but register new accounts special to start war/politics related flame here should start reading forum rules first. Do not even try to do that.
