This is for a heads up on how serious either the 7900GT is for taming Elder Scrolls or to see how serious next-gen gaming is getting taming the 7900GT

Can the 7900GT handle settings maxed out on a what seems to be DX9.0d??? *because of the tear drop graphics*

simple answer - No it can't.

Not even SLI'd 7900GTX can keep the game smooth 100% of the time.

the game is lacking optimisations.. that and becoz Bethesda presets the cpu usage and thread limits, means that it'll suck even more.

...if only they had of used a dynamic thread system...

I even struggle a little with this game, particularly outdoors, fps can drop as low as 30 on max settings + 16HQAF.

With a few tweaks, you can get it near max settings. I was getting 35-40fps outdoor but now I get 40-55fps

I'd have to agree with Xaser04, I'm running at maximum settings with AA disabled @ 1280x1024 resolution on a 7800GTX and Oblivion runs smooth without any issues.
So from my experience so far, 2 GTXs in SLI should be smooth as butter.

Friend of mine runs it at 1280x1024 everything max HDR on no AA, on a 7900GT and its smooth as anything.

Myself, running same settings as phrozin. Everything full wack 1600x1200, HDR on but obviously no AA as a result and the game runs great. Damn fine looking for the most part, especially when u r in the middle of the forrests!

Yeah I was kinda disappointed with the performance my 6800GT put out. I heard others getting better performance with a 6600GT but who knows....

I can play @1280x1024 just fine. Just disabled self-shadows, grass shadows and applied the tweak that makes the grass scarcer.
If some people can't play right on a 7900GT, they just wasted money on that card :D
