do you guys think nvidia will relese a 7600 series? Or do you think they will just kepp the 6800 GT around to fill in that spot?

    thanks.....

I know that its pure speculation but when abouts would you say a possible 7600 series would come out?

I'm pretty sure they will. it's always the same routine: first the ULTRA powerful versions come out, then they're reduced down to performance versions.

A 7600 GT would be competing against the 6800GT or 6800nu. I would hate to see NVidia discontinue the 6800GT. Why? Because I know a guy who has an SLI motherboard yet is running just one card for now. He's waiting until the 6800GTs drop to about $200 USD before he buys his second.

i think they will do a 7600 series, simply because ati will do a complete new line up too

ati already has the rv515 and rv530 ready for production, which will be mid range and value cards, so even if performance between a 6800GT and a 7600GT will be insignificant, i think nvidia will go for it, simply because then they have a same generation opponent for ati's stuff

sure, there wont be new tech or feats, but if a customer can choose between a 2 year old 6800GT, or a brand spanking new Radeon x750Xt, what do you think they will do, or what the salesmen at the comp shops will recommend?

imho, nvidia better release new mid range cards, even if they are just nv40's with a new PCB collor and name, because if they dont they will be left cold outside by the less knowing consumer

technically speaking the 7800gtx was only designed to replace the 6800ultra as a high end card with the restof the range staying as tey are for now. Although i still think a 7600 or 7700 is a possibilty!

I'd rather have nVidia release a higher range better card, and lower the prices of existing cards. Then continue this cycle.

i think the only advantage of a 7600 would be price drops on 6xxx cards.. i think id go buy a few 6800upc-ei and sli if that happend :)

there will be a 7600 series..... but i don't know if it would come out b4 christmas....

it will probally be somewhere in terms of 12 or 16 pipes....

    12p ~ 475Mhz
    16p ~ 435Mhz

256-bit memory would not surprise me, but 128-bit possible to cut cost

all features of the 7 series

performance on par with 6800GT / Ultra

dual dvi on some cards (manu.'s choice)

i think they will eventually, the 6800 GT has a broken VPU that cant be fixed via software ... i bet if we do see a 76-7700 it will just be a corrected 6800GT, meaning the VPU will be fixed on the chip.

    Where is the gap for this product? 6600 , 6600gt , 6800le , 6800nu , 6800gt, 6800ultra , 7800GT , 7800GTX? is the performance difference between the 6800Ultra and the 7800GT big enougth to fit in another card?

The difference is under 1000 points in 3dmark05 I hardly see nvidia slotting something in there.

Its best to think of the current card in the 7x00 series as 6850 and 6900 becuase the feature sets are almost identical (Transparant AA being a difference) I would have liked to see 7x00 series started from a 32 pipe version and much enhanced image qual.

In shorthand : Dont expect one.

a 7600 GT would mean christmas for me. Probably would be priced around 225-250 range. WHile simultaneously dropping 6800 GT's to around 180-200. How lovely would that be? However i still wouldn't get the 6800 GT's, cause one 7800 GT gets only slightly less performance.

as i said, there is no performance gap, but nvidia needs something that sounds new, ati will sure bring out a new budget card, and even if it doesnt outperform a 6800GT, people will automaticly opt for the newer card

technicly speaking there was no need for any FX card except the 5800/5900's, all other cards were in the same performance range as the GF4's, but in order to keep people from massively flocking to Ati's "new" 9500/9600's they needed some new sounding mid end cards, even if the jump in performance would be non existant

IMO I don't think they will bother making one, it would be silly as it would be basicly a 6800GT/Ultra which would be pointless. If the 7800GTX had origionally had 32 pipes then the GT could have had say 24 and a 7600 20 pipes. Would have made more sense...
