I'm almost, almost, tempted to buy myself a Titan as it comes very close to matching a GTX 690/GTX 680 SLI without any of the issues inherent with using SLI such as negative scaling, poor optimization and games just not liking multi-GPU setups at all (e.g. Trials Evolution!).

I'm waiting for the GTX 780 reviews first though but I suspect that its performance may not be what I'm hoping for as a replacement for my current GTX 680 SLI but we'll see. I only play games at 1920x1200 with v-sync and 60 fps is my ideal framerate so the GTX 780 might be the cheaper alternative. I'd buy a Titan without a second thought if it was under £600 though but £850 puts it into the "desirable but poor value for money" category for me.

Tomb Rider wtf? Anyway, doesn't seem that much faster than the gtx 680. If the price is right, good.

I think if the GTX 770 was £250-£300 then it would be an excellent replacement for the GTX 680 and allow for the GTX 780 to sell at around £350-£400.

    Seems like an overclocked 680.

    Why not?

The GTX 770 is effectively the replacement for the GTX 670 with the expected performance increase while the GTX 780 is the GTX 680 replacement. It would make sense to sell both those cards at the same prices as the current ones, particularly as the GTX 770 offers the same amount as VRAM as the GTX 670 and the GTX 780 is said to only have 3 GB, the same amount as AMD's HD 7970. I think NVIDIA would be stupid to sell the GTX 770 at the same £385 price as the GTX 680 and then sell the GTX 780 for, what, £500 or more. I mean if I had to fork out £500-£600 for the GTX 780 then I might as well spend £850 on the faster GTX Titan which has twice as much VRAM.

IMO, NVIDIA have got to be very careful with the pricing of their new cards and not get into the habit of inflating the prices with each new generation just because they know their loyal fanbase will buy them anyway.

But Darren look at it in a different way, you can still OC it, so comparing to stock clocks you can really push it up for a good additional 20-25%.

Hopefully, but as a company why wouldn't they. If the supply and demand is there, and they are able to maximize profit, seems like a smart business decision.

The Titan was never meant for the mainstream. It's meant for 4k resolutions, and 4k is nowhere near mainstream.

The GTX 700 series will be their next mainstream series.

Sure it's based on Titan, but it's still not the Titan.

The Titan is like a super enthusiast card. That high price tag covers that 6GB of ram, which is meant for 4k.

Titan cannot handle 4k in a reasonable manner. You need to dial down settings and barely break 30FPS.

Titan is based on a GPU that doesn't yield as much as GK104, hence the price. Nobody in their right mind would sell you 25-30% more performance for less than that in the same generation.

And until prices are set in stone, the suggested prices are all rumors, conflicting with each other. If 780 is based on Titan's GPU, it will not have a more affordable price tag.
