Faces of Death, care for a housmate ? LOL
how hot do things get ? do you play games with it aswell ?
Will you adopt me?
Have fun, brudda.
Not being disrespectful or anything but... WTF!!!!?????
LOL you seem to have the money, so like Hilbert said, "Why not!?"
Go for it mate, though even 1 GTX680 in a HTPC I think it nearly 50x what you actually need. I thought they were meant to be quiet, cool running, and mainly for general PC stuff (web browsing, office, and some light gaming). But hey, if you want to blast BF3 at max details and you have the monies. Go for it!!!!
Just a quick question Faces Of Death....
Will you marry me!!!! PWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!
So is your 6x 500GB drives to most other casual PC users.
Just a matter of perspective, really.
@Faces Of Death
You should've waited for the 690, and get 6 of them.
I'm lolling over here. Obviously your call OP.. Don't think its fair to call people jealous though.
Anyway, good luck with the setup!
depends if youre a fit young female!
and its built! got a funky 1024x768 vga screen built in which is fun, the remote control works too safe!
anyway thats nothing the 4x 680's with the 3960x is coming next gonna pull an all nighter! red bull!
Just make sure to "hack" pcie 3.0 driver or there will be pcie bus bottleneck.
Check this thread;
He posted 2 videos pcie2.0 vs pci3.0, maybe ask him for more info.
btw all x79 mobos support it natively and nvidia needs to do some more homework.
Indeed. I just agreed to that this setup is hilarious in its beastly unuseful performance ^^
to the OP: enjoy mate, you probably deserve it. My recommendation would be, if you have the money, buy it, but with sense in mind. Remember: EVERY PENNY WASTED ON SOMETHING UNUSEFUL (for example 2x 680s in an HTPC) can be used for other stuff like a better audio system or a better screen.
just remember that !
This thread needs more pics!
god daym¬! pics comin tomomorrow
Be good if you could return 2 of the GTX 680 and get a GTX 690 for that HTPC.
Reminds me of that saying "Good things come in small packages".
I don't see 2 GTX 680 as overkill for a HTPC, should be a min requirement in today's day and age of tech toys
Congrats on your new toys.
cant b arsed with dual GPU combos crippling the oc and coolin capability!
cool, your "htpc" can rape most gaming rigs out there, i wanna see your quad sli, are you gonna water cool it?
I really want to see your quad SLI rig.
hi the Quad sli rig is being put together today i am keeping the CPU under water but the GPU's will be on air for the moment
i still want to see 6 in one rig lol, i not it not possible in sli or with the the stack pci-e power connector and stack dvi would be cool to fold on that many
i think that it a htpc/gaming rig not just a htpc.
and i like seeing dream systems build logs so keep it up op:nerd:
You will regret not putting that under water man, the noise will drive you nuts.
680 runs quite alot cooler then 480s and 580s, so I wouldn't be surprised if a single 480 rad could cool 4x 680s, have to keep in mind you don't need sub 40 degrees during load to pull nice OCing results as long as you don't saturate the rads to begin with the cards will be fine sitting on low 60s.
Definitely seems to be an HT/Gaming PC... being that HTPC means Home Theater Personal Computer, and things like low power consumption and silent operation tend to be key requirements for such a system.
That Phantom will be quieter than a stock fan, but far from ideal for during quiet scenes in movies.
Nice new gear though... have fun building, and keep the pics coming..
You'll need a huge case with some neat cooling for those 4 GPUs.
An active fridge maybe?
