I have a similar rig as OP's and my FPS has always been enjoyable (running ultra)... but after reading your comment I decided to disable HT.. holy sh!t the game is way more fluid in motion. I played till 4am last night and almost missed a meeting today due to how much fun I was having.

Yer if u have ssd's. I see the desktop withing 35 min. But full install and set up take at least 3. Bare bone can be done very quick. I love my Raid SSD's.

    i have ALL SSDs
just to get your system ready to format can take 3hrs
    lol
that is before you ever install anything
you gave him a best case scenario

really if you want to do it correct and get your system totally updated and running correctly with all your system settings like you have them now and all your stuff you backed up back in the correct locations etc...
you are looking at a long time

now lets look at the avg scenario
i bet 24hrs later he is still fine tuning and remembering settings that he is still adjusting

that is why i recommended ACRONIS
believe me i been using GHOST before acronis

best thing to do is do a FRESH install and only goto WINDOWS UPDATE
after you have got all your windows update CREATE an IMAGE

then you can always restore that image in aprox 10 - 20 mins

my acronis image right now is 6GB compressed as high as i could set it
all i can say is i love acronis

btw what if he has all his steam stuff on C:
and what if he only has 1 drive and no where to back stuff upto?
OMFG i hate those days....have to re-install EVERYTHING

You can also check every forum, advice, driver, workaround and fix, and conclude that your 600$ videocard isnt gonna perform the way you imagined it would.
You sell your card, second hand, loose 200$. Or you format your system, lets say it takes 4 hours, you have the highest fps around and you earn 50$ an hour:nerd:
Ssd etc, fine, i got 8 of them in raid 5 and 8 in raid 10. It takes a big areca and a big case..

    i am an old pro

believe me when i say i have reinstalled 1000s of times
why do you think i am telling you about ACRONIS

because i learned of a QUICKER way.

so listen to me (if you want)

its not going to make a difference

amd has been making drivers since 1995 for their video cards (at least that is when i started buying some of their video cards)

    ok we going on 2012..
that is 17 years at doing this.
do you really think they dont know how to make drivers that install OVER their own drivers?

ok we are talking AMD here
they make CPU/GPU and god knows that else.

but IF you insist on formatting do yourself a favor and make some benchmarks FIRST so when you do format and do a reinstall you can then run your benchmarks again and compare.

btw what do you think the review sites like GURU3D do?
do you think they do a format and install everytime that a new driver comes out?
    nope...its not needed.

No, formatting is a final step in the process. Believe me when i say i tried it all. I am a "pro" since 1992, so i know my stuff.
At some point i had a system where i got 35 fps in bf3, i spend all my time solving it with all the advice, drivers etc without result. I see a lot of stories on other forum as well about the 35 fps problem. I decided to do a format and got the credits.
My question to you as a "pro" is; what was wrong in the old situation. Crap answers like amd has their driver stuff fixed as a defend to a suggestion i had is something babys can do. I can make your amd drivers respond like amateur programmed stuff (i tested this) when you pull out your 6970, put in a 6990 and reboot. No way your system ever gonna realize it has 2 cores now, even though ccc shows some nice 6990 detected. No guru3d or amd delete tool is gonna fix that.
Acronis, i used it some 5 years ago, but i quited ict and wont need that frequent reinstalls anymore. I decided to fix people instead of computers :)

    We agree on that.
Fps 35 or fps 180 just because of reinstall isnt stuttering issue.

Well, just did a reformat last night. I dont know what the deal was, but now I can run 70-90 fps @5760x1200 bezel comp'd, all on high, textures on low.

Even the B2K mappack can keep the fps the same....

Shoulda done a reformat when the damn game came out.....

I would suggest this to anyone having serious fps drops with BF3, and using multiple cards...
