I have a Crossfire Formula IV Mobo with 4 slots of PCI-E for plenty of Crossfire support. Well I didn't want my 6870's to be to close to eachother so I placed one in the 1st PCI-e slot and another in the 3rd PCI-e slot with the bridge connected. With it being an extra slot away, will it hurt my performance at all? Newb question I know, But I do see my performance kinda sluggish with crossfire setup where it should be absolutely blowing away games, and ive searched for it, but cannot find. Thanks for the help.

check your board's manual the 2nd card might be running in x8 mode or less. some boards the cards need to be in the 1/3 slots and some in the 1/2 slots.

Indeed.. you want to make sure that the PCIE slots you're using are both 16x otherwise it could explain why you are not seeing the kinda performance you're expecting. Also, what drivers are you using? Supposedly the 10.10c and d are better for Xfire than other drivers.. is what I've read anyway.
Doesnt hurt to make sure you mobo bios is up to date as well..
