    Hi.

Ive got my Aopen 6800LE unlocked to 16x1,6vp and core/mem at 35/750

get a score of 10154 in 3dmark2003 but when I play NFSU2 i get graphical tearing and slight stutter every min or so.

Shall I put it to 12x1,6vp and overclock more
    or

keep it at 16x1,6vp and put it back to default 300/700 speeds?

    Pipelines

If you can, just get all pipelines open. From 12 to 16 will increase your fillrate by 33%, while overclocking from 300 to 350 mhz will get you only 16%.

However, pipelines are more likely to cause visual trouble if one or more do not work OK.

But if all pipelines work, I found no temperature increase if I opened up more, so it is probably the better option for your card lifespan too. (however, mine had one defective quad, so I can only use 12)

Also, the memory of the 6800LE is relatively fast (300*8/700*256), compared to the memory ratio of both the 6600GT (500*8/500*128) and the 6800GT (350*16/800*256), even if you unlock all pipelines. So memory overclocking may not do that much.

what would happen if i Flashed it from a LE bios to a NU bios?

Would the memory timings stress the LE memory?

    6800NU

As fas ar I know, the 6800NU used the same memory and timings. Only the clockspeeds differed sometimes, but it makes more sense to set those by software, as that is reversible and the performance is the same.

I hate the LE on the tab in Control Panel so im going to Flash to a Gainward 6800NU GS me thinks.

    Its got 360/800 settings.

You think my card should handle that?

    Paperweight

No, you just said you got 750 out of the memory, so a new BIOS with 800 is going to change your card in an expensive paperweight, unless you manage to flash it back.

You can just change its name with Rivatuner. That is totally safe and you can even call it an Ultra Extreme, if you like. Just do know that this will prevent Windows from recovering from a hibernate status.

Just drop your clocks down to prevent the artifacts. Flashing your bios is not a very good idea, Mainly because if it all goes pear shaped you may not be able to recover the card.

Unlocking pipes will give you much much more performance, its also not tireing the card out as the card was made with them.
