Which of these two cards is better? And why? Don't consider just the chip itself but these exact vendor's cards? The price is similar... VGA PCI-E SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON X800XL, 256MB DDR3, DVI, TV or VGA PCI-E XFX, geforce pcx 6800gs extreme xxx, 256mb ddr3, dvi, tv Does anyone have either of those? What are your experiences?
Dont know much about the 800xl but the sound leve(noise, db) is alot lower on the saphire card... just what I know
well I had an XL AGP and I have to say, tha thing was crazy noisy, and still ran hot. Not only that but my game performance was complete junk. Apparently people are happy with theirs, but I wasn't with mine. I went with a 6800U and now I've gotten the kinda performance that I'm satasfied with.
i would definitely say get the 6800gs. even though i have the evga, its still kick-ass. i dont know how the x800xl compares with it. the 6800gs also has sm 3.0 and opengl 2.0 (dont know what the x800xl has but i think its less). well based on some reviews, the 6800gs is better in some games and the x800xl is better in other games. mainly based on this one http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce-6800gs.html
the x800xl or wahatever are not junk keep that in mind they are quite good cards indeed. its not nvidia vs ati its the best card available for a persons needs and price range:nerd: whatever i mean my bad
yes its basically what brand youre into most and how much youre willing to spend. im an nvidia junkie so my results may be a little biased
I think that the 6800GS XXX is faster than the X800XL. Why? The X800XL is meant to compete with the 6800GT, but the 6800GS XXX is even faster than the 6800GT. And it's more future proof, 'cause of all that SM3 support, HDR and bla bla bla, when the X800XL is only SM 2 capable. Overall... the 6800GS XXX is a better buy than the X800XL.
6800GS. Why? It has better technologies, like Shader Model 3.0, Pure Video for movie playback, and it overclocks very well. X800 XL. Why not? Is has 4 more pipelines, but it overclocks terrible, ussualy louder cooling solution than on 6800GS , only Shader Model 2.0b support, no special video acceleration. Enough?
