    Hey guys:
I own a 6800nu and I have noticed that the highest temperature it ever reaches is like 80 celcius. What temps do you get on your card? Please post your temps so that I get an idea of how my card stacks up agianst others like it.

That is too high there buddy. Rip your side panel off and run it to see if temperatures drop. Most high temperatures is a result from poor case cooling.

actually some stock coolers dont really work as good as nvidia refrence coolers. My BFG use to run 87C max and BFG told me that my temps were just fine i installed an NV5 and temps went down 15C.

I read somewhere that the temperature sensors have quite big tolerances, so they don't show you the real temps... they can be off by 10°C! On my Asus the temps went into the 80's, then the fan failed and I mounted a NV Silencer 5 and applied AS5 to it. Temps went down by 10° - so, the NVSilencer does proper work, and it is mounted properly. Now I reach 75° under load, quite ok me thinks :D - All measured with Smartdoctor.
I measure the temps via an Aerogate 2 too, and they show me total different temperatures...
Ram idle temp is 54° in SmartDoctor, measured with a directly attached sensor 42°. So what sensor should I trust? These sensors are very accurate on the other temps in the machine (case, hdd, cpu) - so, I trust them.

There is such a huge margin for error...

and btw... my Asus is heavily overclocked and the Pipelines are unlocked.

Yes but, Most cases are designed for airflow to go in the proper direction. Removing the side panel actually may cause it to overheat because the air flow direction has ceased to exist.
Make sure all your fans are working corectly and are clean. Check the back of your pc while its running. See if the air blowing out is hot or cool or maybe its just warm. You might want to invest about 10-20 bucks for some better fans. Remember, the air that is cooling your vid card is already warm from the workings in the pc. so try and get more cool air in the case by creating a better front to rear airflow.

mine goes up to around 65c under load(rthdribl), its idling at the mo around 42c. When i had the 1.5v voltmod, 440mhz and 16 pipes it would go up to around 77c, under heavy stress.

My card idles at 49 but gets up to 80 under load. I think that this may be a result of the heat coming from the other overclocked components.

i just need better case cooling...i've not got any case fans, just the side off. Wil be rectified with a brand new Thermaltake Tsunami, and i'll tell you guys if it helps at all with temps.

6800 Ultra load temps peak at 57C after 3 hours of Half-Life 2. Average load temp at 55C-56C. Stock cooler with AS5 applied.

I run my 6800GT at 403/1100 and my temps are 55c at idle and around 63c in BF:V gaming which is a good load.
And my 3dmark03 is well over 12000 and 3dmark01 is over 20000. 3dmark05 isover 5000. All on stock cooling.
