My ultra is still alive and kicking, it will be for a while to come as well, new house before pc upgrade, sheeesh the sacrifices a guy makes for his family
Conroe/PCI-e build put on the back burner for a while
Bump for an oldie but a goodie
Yah I remember those days I got 3 of them 6800Ultra 2 by PNY and they both dead after about 6 month (NEVER GET PNY S*** AGAIN) the 3rd one I go with BFG cost me a few more dollar than the PNY but its still kick today. Still play CS:S on it.
My EVGA 6800gt died after a few years of faithful service. I replaced it with a 7800gs... and honestly I think the 7800gs was slower...
Bought my 6800 ultra about 4 years ago for about £340. Sold it on ebay for £60. I really miss it but i had to let it go, least it will get used some more Its wierd but the 6800 ultra was the best card i have ever had
I still got my 6800GT sat behind me on the shelves gathering dust, was originally a birthday gift from a friend who had them in SLI ^_^
Hi, I have an older 6800 series GeForce card but I do not know it's exact specifications. I can tell you that it's a PCI-Express card and has two DVI ports. It has an Arctic Cooling NV 5 Silencer installed.. The bracket on the end is big enough for two ports, like a dual slot design video card, but they aren't like the modern ones on the 8, 9, and GTX series. I don't remember why, where, or how I got this card. It originally had a built on cooler which was green and had an image of a woman.. the woman can be seen on NVIDIA's website at times, it is one of the models they programmed. I don't think its a 6800GT, but I really can't no for sure. I think it might be an ultra. Is there anyway I can find out other than the obvious? (The obvious method would be installing it in my PC and figuring it out)
Also... what's with all the 6800 hype? Is there something special about it? Someone also mentioned using the 6800's via SLI. Is that really possible and if so, how many can you connect? Two, three, four? I appreciate any help.
Heh, I'm still using my 6800 GT on a WC system as my main PC. It's sad to see posts from 2 years ago already being nostalgic about the card I'm still running.
DevilsKnight, are there any part #'s on your card? As far as I can remember, the GT and Ultra were pretty similar physically, but the Ultra had something different with the power, a second plug I believe? That might have been the AGP versions only (I've never had a pci-e card).
I installed the unknown 6800 PCI-E card into my computer and it was identified just as a GeForce 6800 PCI-E. I took a picture of the card, although it already has a custom heatsink and cooler attached to it.
I still think those were one of the best aftermarket cooler designs. I've got mine laying around in case I ever need to mod something and make it very cool.
Yeah I still got that and a zalman vf-700 laying around in a box, I had the leadtek 6800GT with the huge copper heatsink, but out of all three the zalman was the quietest and slightly better at cooling than the leadtek copper heatsink.

I've been thinking about mod the cooler of my 6800 GT for a long time, but I just love the reference cooler on it :nerd:
