    Yep..

There is no need for AMD to use DDR2 yet. Intel needed the headroom because it seems to be memory bandwidth limited... I can't wait for them to drop this p4 and rework the Pentium-M for desktop... now that will be a great CPU.

So far, DDR2 seems to be all hype and no results.
Everything points to the famous "RDRAM incident", when Intel tried to force new "superior" memory technology on unsuspecting customers.

As for the 6800 LE / 6800 NU / 6600 GT thing - here's my understanding of it. A 6600 GT will pretty well ALWAYS outdo a non-unlocked 6800 LE, but only just. The memory bandwidth just isn't enough to compensate for the fill rate difference.

A non-OCed 6800 NU will perform comparably with a 6600 GT when gaming at 1024 x 768 without any kind of anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering. As you add AA, AF, and up the res, the difference between the two cards becomes pronounced, with the 6800 NU coming out on top. I can't recall what the thread was, but on NVnews there was a thread regarding this - at around 1280 x 1024 with AA on, the 6800 NU can exceed the 6600GT by around 20-30%, depending on the game obviously. It's worth considering whether the price differential is worth it to you - the 6600GT is an EXCELLENT card for the price, but if you can get a 6800NU for *near* that price, it's a better deal.

The DFI LANParty UT nF3 is one of the best OC'ing socket 754 mobos and the expectation is that the new DFI LanParty nForce4 Ultra and SLI mobos should be even better.

The new ASUS A8N SLI and Deluxe SLI should be good ones as should the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI.

Go with the AMD, it should be better. As for which one is better for certain things, Intel has the upper hand in encoding, and AMD is a bit better in gaming.
