    helllo all
i am new to the forum so can you please help a noob out here.......
i want to buy a new gfx card ... my options are a 6800 normal (not gt or ultra) , or a bfgtech 6600gt oc (which is overclocked)

which ONE would have better preformance after overclocking, i have herd that the 6600gt is only 128-bit with 8 pipelines and the 6800 is 256-bit with 12 pipelines and you can some how unlock pipelines so after unlocking the pipelines will it preform better that the 6600gt oc?????

will the stock cooling be enought to cool the overclocked 6800, BTW i have 2 casefans one in the front on my case and one in the back (excluding psu fan and cpu fan and gfx card fan)

so which do you guys think i should get

6800 NU all the way, better performance, its got more pipes and a 256-bit interface, do the math. Also, you should be able to overclock it with stock cooling, but there is no set number that it can reach, just hope you get lucky and your card can overclock to a decent amount.

6800nu fo' sure. I managed to oc it to 463/868 :D and i still think it can go higher, its idling at 42~47c with stock cooling.
Edit: you can't unlock the pipes on the pci-e 6800 but still got 3700+ on 05 running at stock speed (325/600)

Never heard of realtech, probably just a small cheapy company, there are better alternatives out there. I'd recommend MSI, Albatron, Leadtek, Chaintech, Prolink, XFX and a few other ones, all of those should be ok. And yes, since that is a PCI-E 6800 NU, you can't open any extra pixel pipelines since it is a native 12 pipe, 5 vertex processor card, no freebies, lol. You'll just get the performance of a normal 6800 NU.

so then wouldnt a 6600 gt beat a normal 6800????? AS the ^*)) is going to run as a normal 6800

Ahhhh, but a normal 6800 NU beats a normal/overclocked 6600 GT by quite a bit. I was just mentioning that you won't get any freebies, like possibly working extra unlockable pixel pipelines.

    r u sure about that???????
in what ways is it faster the 6600 gt had gddr3 ram
and also runs at a higher MHZ at the core???

    What is your msn BTW????

    1. Yes.
    2. It has more pixel pipelines, more vertex processors, double the memory bandwidth. Just because the 6600 GT's core and memory speed is faster and it has G-DDR3 RAM doesn't make it faster. The 6800 NU should be able to destroy the 6600 GT in most games.
    3. Don't use MSN, never will, (forums for me).

so if i get the agp version i should be able to unlock the extra pipelines right??????
and make it preform like 6800gt or 6800 ultra

    the chances are 50-50.

to make it perf liek a GT , you will have to clock it to 350/1000... thats impossible on the 2.5ns DDR1 rams...

so give n take... 400/900 would be arnd a gt... (that got me 12k in 3dm03 and 4.6k in 05)

but accouding to all my research i have found out no benchmarks proving the 6800 (not clocked) faster that the 6600gt (over clocked)

can anyone provide me some bench marks???

and the non-gt version of the 6800 only comes in 128 mb right?????????
if so, is it possiable to overclock anybrand of 6800 to unlock extra pipelines????

Yes, the 6800 NU only comes in a 128MB, but even if the 6600 GT had 256MB, it wouldn't be able to use it because of it's 128-bit memory interface. Now. listen, overclocking, and unlocking extra pipes is ALL LUCK. The extra pipes on the AGP version might be faulty, and artifact, but there is a chance they may work. Same with overclocking, it may overclock great, it may overclock decently, or maybe hardly at all, it's all luck. The 6800 NU normal is a better performer than a 6600 GT, and overclocking won't give it such a large performance gain. The reason it is better is because.

    1. 256-bit bit interface compared to the 6600 GT's 128-bit interface, double the bandwidth

    2. More pixel pipelines/vertex processors, (the more the better). The 6800 NU has 12, 5 compared to the 6600 GTs 8, 3.

The 6600 GT may have G-DDR3 memory and higher clocks, but that doesn't make up for the 6800 NUs extra pipes and memory bandwidth. The 6800 NU will thrash the 6600 GT in most games, and if you want to pay the extra cash, it is the better choice.

Its the 6800LE that the 6600GT is faster than isnt it? Im sure the 6600GT is faster than one of the 6800's.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the 6800 LE should beat a 6600 GT as well, since it has a 256-bit memory interface.

want benchis about the 6800nu pci-e vs agp
    pci-e i got 5,300+ on 05 @ 450/850

can't post a link couse it says generic vga on orb when 05 says its a 6800 if ne1 knows a solution to this it would be appreciated.

agp i got 4,000 on max oc with my pentium 2.6 @ 3.6 (piplines didn't work only unlocked the vertex) card could only run @ 349/860 max.

clearly it beats an oc 6600 GT

ok so then the question now is that shoulkd i get a p4 540 (is that the new one) or amd 64 3500+, and is there a motherboard for amd which ddr2??????

    which would win a p4 3.4 ghz (540) with ddr2 ram or a amd 64 3500+ with ddr 400 ram????
i can afford both which would give me more preformance in games, (its not all about the grafix card u know)

    any way
thatx for the help so far

AMD 64 3500+ wud be far ahead in GAMING specifically. There is no AMD mobo with DDR 2.
