    Hello,

I've here a 6600GT, MSI NX6600GT VTD128 and temperature of the GPU is around 54° idle, up tu 84° full charge... any idea if this is "normal" or really too high ?

I currently have 71.90 drivers but tested with the new with temp bug "fixed" and get same numbers...

    Thanks

PNY 6600GT running the 76.41 Drivers (From Guru3d)

    Temp @ idle is 60F

Gonna run a different set of drivers soon, heard there are better ones (older ones) for the 6600GT.

i am running 76.41 and love them. at idle i am at 58C for the top card and 55C for the bottom. at load i think it goes to 65C for the top and 62C for the bottom.

So why my card go up to 82° at full charge :/ Nobody have issue with MSI but me... and my PC isn't that heat...

Just saw that people who run the same card get 49/77 or 52/81 temperature, wich are almost the same... so I just have to find better cooling system...

Is there any compatible with my card ?...

    quie hot here !!!!!

first up ... the temp bug is only for the 6800's ...

my card idle' at 55c-60c and under max load 70c-75c ... the only way to get the temps. down is to get a heatsink ...

Mine is exactly the same as that (maybe because its also an XFX?).

The fans/cooling solutions differ among manufacturers, hence you'll see a variance. The lowest temps I've seen here were BFG cards. But I think there have been cases of other cards getting into the 80's like yours.

Most intersting cooling solution is the new Gigabyte 6600gt/pci.. FANLESS! Albeit large, wide heat sink.

I have an XFX and it reaches 85°C sometimes. That is fairly normal with the stock cooling. Many people here have said they get 55°C on max load, but I seriously doubt that. Maybe they are checking the temps after exiting the game or by Alt-Tabbing out of the game. Dont worry, 82°C is acceptable.

Actually, I found that with the new 71.84 Official drivers the temps came down to 77°C max! No explanations for that one though...

Damn 95C for MSI. I've got one and the highest it went is 75C.

    BTW: Read the article:

    -Anandtech.

So much for the MSI cooling being crap.

I just installed a Leadtek 6600GT and O / C 'd it moderately. I recorded settings, temps, and scores if it will help:
I play C/S, Halo, and GTR, with no dispuptions in game play or video quality.
My temps are higher than yours, with stock cooling, so take this as only a reference.
    -----------------------
Source Stress Test : 113.52 fps avg.
    AquaMark 3 Score : 52,463 / 133 max fps
    3D Mark 5 Test : 3D Marks = 3,411 / CPU Marks = 4,190
    Clock Speeds : 500 / 939
    Idle Temps : 36' C amb. / 48' C sensor
    Working Temps : 48' C amb. / 88' C sensor (max)
    4 / 8 / 2005
    Moderate O / C
    -----------------------
I run 2 inlet fans and 2 outlet fans, stock for X-Blade case. Plus the fan on CPU and 6600.

I have the BFG 6800 GT OC and I also experienced temps at full load in the mid-80s C on several apps. I discussed the issue at length with BFG's tech support and they assured me that the card was designed to work under those conditions and that the temperatures were perfectly normal.

My personal solution was to add an additional 80mm exhaust fan along with an intake fan blowing above the card. I also installed the Vantec Spectrum PCI fan with two fans that blow directly on the card's face. With this configuration I've been able to drop the temperartures by 10 to 15 C depending on the application.

Another route is the Zalman or NV5 which many have used with very good success.

Recently installed the 76.45 set of drivers .. oc'ed to 565/1165 and here are the new temps :
    idle : 58c-62c
    load : 75c-84c (crosses 80 only when playing doom3,PoP....stays below 80c mostly)

max temp till now (while running 3dmark05) : 88c

Now when i oc'ed to 590/1200 : load temps went up to 80c-90c ..max temps observeed was 94c ...

    REVOLTEC VGA-COOLER GRAPHIC FREEZER

The Graphic Freezer doesn't stick out of the circuit as much and unlike with the VF700, you can place the memory heatsinks with no problems. So I'll buy it, because as I said in another thread, I am having 87C at max load with stock clocks (500/900).

I don't think there are other commercial coolers compatible with this card.

i get max ~85C, idle at 58C. same temps with case open and fan blowing on heatsink of card. there are heaps of 6600GT's that run that this hot, nothing to worry about.
