    Hellow!

Have one question... how bad it would hurt the performance of 5970 if it would be on 8x PCI-E due to the physx card on P55 chipset...

    Thanks

quite a bit I would imagine, can't u run x16 x4? Tho I assume if u put a second card in it would automatically configure to x8 x8

If its PCIe 2.0, you wont notice the difference. Was something like 10% less performance in PCIe 2.0 x8 compared to PCIe 2.0 x16. Nothing to worry about.

hmm wasn't that for single GPUs? I thought a dual GPU card like that there would be a difference? More so than on say a 4870x2? I could be wrong

Aw, well, the article that i read was about a single 5870 if i recall correctly.

In any case, he can borrow a nVidia card from someone and test it. I still think that the performance hit wont be that bad.

5970 x8 vs x16 look here, make wat u will of the resulting data, looks like it it only made a big difference in Far Cry 2

no worries man, and I just read a review of the board here have a look, looks like if u put the 5970 in one of the red slots and the physX card in the white one, the lanes will be configured in x16, x4 solving your problem

So you think 4x will be enough for physx car? Awesome found BTW thanks!

EDIT: really stupid question up there (it should be plenty for physx)... anyways i'll report if i get a 5970 in 8x and 16x configuration with physx...

yup x4 is usually more than enough for physx especially if it isn't a highend GPU, look at this post on Tom's here, exactly the same board as urs, wat card u thinkin of using for PhysX anyway?

EDIT: I see u've edited ur post lol... will be good to see sum benchies

I had my 8800U in a Physx and it was running x4 and my 5970 x16.

Ran flawlesly, no performance hit on running the physx like that.

I was thinking something like 8800gt/9800gt or maybe 9600gt, but its more plousable that i will get 9800gt... and it would be great if it would be some eco version cos i hate so many power cables... I know XFX has some model without powerplug... anyways guys thaks for help and i hope i will be able to show some beches...

u need to have windows 7 so u can install both drivers, and u also need to use the older nvidia drivers where physx wasn't locked out in the presence of an ATI card, that or use a hack that's available somewhere

Both cards work very well. I have 8800gtx+5870 in one of my systems. 10.3 beta and 196.21 for NV. And Physx run super no problems. As for 8x vs 16. Simple is.. I dont want to get tech about this.. but I did test this and for ME.. reg windows apps, games there was NO difference at all.

Yeah it works fine for me too but its very crappy that you must have extended desktop any other way it doesnt work for me , or maybe its just me :bang: any good guides?
PhysX mod 1.02 kinda works but it makes extended desktops and i cant go to NVCP.
Some pictures if you dont know what i mean:

Hello this is kinda offtopic but still... I am looking for software like HWMonitro, becouse since i put 8800GT in my rig HWMonitor stops responding secunds after i run it, tried other versions and everytime the same story. So i need program like HWMonitor that reads realtime temps, voltages, etc. and it would be good if it would remember max and min values.

    Thanks
