Heya Gurus Currently running gtx460s sli - 1Gb versions... I have the opportunity too trade them for an Asus 5970 Voltage Tweak. Should I trade and hopefully when prices drop with the 6xxx release, get a second one and crossfire?
If you don't have a use for PhysX I'd change to the 5970 (is it at no cost to you?), but no I wouldn't go 5970 xfire, it is more hassle than it is worth
I used to run tri-fire with x3 5870 and it was a very powerful setup and worked well. If you get the 5970 I would buy a 5870 and use tri-fire. Running 2 5970's in quad fire is a waste of time and money compared to tri-fire. If you have your CPU running at 4.0Ghz or higher your all set to go!
Hmm... tried to google some benchmarks, best I got is 5870 trifire - would this be the same as a 5970(850 clock) + 5870.
5970 xfire review, not very up to date games though http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/Radeon_HD_5970_CrossFire/5.html
Did check that out - looks mm.. alright, though they scaled pretty bad in a few benchmarks. Think I will go ahead and Xchange for the 5970. Oh! and to answer your question - Yes at no cost to me
