Honestly though, you must admit that the old CP is getting outdated.
Heck, even developers working on free software as in free beer create smoother control panels.

I don't even mind the old look of it, just the limiting factors in it's design and that it acts rather slow, if it was a game that had the response of NVCP people would be all over it.

GFE in comparison reacts way more responsive, so if it could be an option to have NVCP included there... should be optional though since some prefer the old ways for some reasons.

 

Just make a new CP and give a choice at installation time between the old and new one.
If the new one will be properly made no one will choose the old one in about half a year after the new one will be provided.
Then it can be removed from the driver distribution package.
DCH is even better since both can be present in Windows Store for user to choose which one to install.

These are rather straight forward things in s/w development these days. Surely a company which brags about how it's more about s/w than h/w these days can make a good modern GPU control panel?

 

Bad drivers are bad, downloaded used DDU got in to Windows ( Windows 10 Pro ) and hit Google Chrome, Nvidia Display Driver Crash...

Played WoW for 2 minutes, Nvidia Display Driver Crashed.

Hmmmmmmm

Turned on Steam, Nvidia Display Driver Crashed.

Went back to 471.96, used DDU of course and no problems.

 

So far so good and i tested some games resident evil village,rage 2,wolfenstein 2,shadow of the tomb raider days gone all my games run fast and smooth. Cyberpunk runs realy good with these.

 

thats clearly an issue with your OC ASUS card.

it'll be a full replacement or no replacement, hopefully in WTL (not WPF), DPI scaling friendly and replaces the binary database with a sqlite database.

 

I was gonna reply earlier to ask if they'd reset pc after install, that might have done the job.

 

legitimate TDR issues tend to affect the entire architecture family, you don't just get a tdr issue with a 1080ti where everythings broken and then the guy beneath him with a 1060 saying everythings fine without the system and whats on/in it being a central factor of the problem.

Too many posts on the nvidia forum by people lacking due diligence and the capacity to actually discern the difference between a busted driver and hardware issue thanks to covid.

 

Driver works great on latest Win 11 DEV. 3090 strix oc and 5950x.

 

I suspect part of it also comes down to AIB's using higher power limits and GPU frequency settings than FE (I believe Nvidia makes and tests drivers up against the original cards), so if the driver pushes a bit harder and it works fine with an FE card it might push a factory overclocked AIB card hard enough to make the design fail.
With that in mind I rather blame the AIB's than Nvidia, after all it's them who go off spec.

I moved the power limit and frequency down to Nvidia's reference values with my own card a few drivers ago since there was an issue, don't want to frack around with voltages and such, nor have the tool installed to do just that.

 

The latest Dev Insider 22449 has broken my overclocks pretty badly on 3090 Gaming X Trio. Sadly, right before it got updated from a more stable previous version (but still on the same driver), it overclocked beautifully. Now, any medium-level overclock risks 3DMark Port Royal not even starting.

 

I had installed it on my notebook, a 1070. And yes PC was reset. Haven't tried it yet on my 1080Ti.

 

Also played gta 5 for 5 hours staight no issues.

Windows Dev Insider 22449 leads not to a new Windows 11 Major version, it is for experimental use, only the good stuff from this version comes to windows 11 22000.XXX with a cumulative update.
Same as higher build numbers for Windows 10.

 

Obsolete in pretty much everything for about five years now.
It can be faster, nicer, provide more features and do it a lot more conveniently.
I honestly can't think of anything which can be seen as good in current CPL.
