My GPU sits at 50°c, would this be considered Ok for a Nvidia 6800 ULTRA. I am using the 81.95 WHQL drivers.

    Thanks..

My 6800GT used to run over 60C. I put a Zalman VF700-CU with AS5 and now its sitting comortably at 56C. That's with the case closed. Much cooler with a side panel off, <50C, so looking into putting a fan or two in the side panel.

thats NOT too hot and NOT off average, infacy thats VERY good for stock cooling your room must be pretty cool as its sucking cool air into your case keeping things cool

the real question is what are the temps during load?

Room temp according to my Abit 3rd Eye is 27°c, I do have a Coolermaster Case though with 2 120MM fans at the front, with a sidebar cross flow fan inside the case blowing across the RAM etc.

Does this this sound kind of back to front to you? I mean "cool air from inside the case" ????

Granted the Zalman doesn't have a much better air flow solution but with the larger fins e.g. greater area to dissipate heat, I felt that with good case airflow this was the option for me.

Let me state here this was personal choice on the info provided and I have never installed the NV5 for comparison.

Also the Zalman seemed to offer greater ease of cleaning in my view.

Mine runs at 85 when playing games like BF2 at max settings. Never been a problem though. The warning isn't even set to go off until it reaches 101 so no problems really. Soon as I stop playing it very quickly goes back to around 53 while idle.

hmm I so I guess 50~52 Idle to 60~65 Load is good for 6800 gt 256mb using a nv5 silencer then

I guess 50 degrees plus is alright after all, even though anythinh higher feels too high. :)

6800gt with NV silencer 5 rev 2 , running at 49° idle and about 60° load,
so your temp with the stock cooling is quite nice

Download RivaTuner, and go into Fan settings under Driver Level settings.

Adjust the fan speeds all the way to the right until it says 100% (stock is at 53%). You should notice that your graphics card fan will spin faster, and your temperature will go down.

    Hope this helps!

thats an awesome idle temp for a 6800 Ultra, my old 6800GT AGP idled at like about 56c. what im amazed about temperature-wise is what nvidia has done with the GeForce 7 series of cards as my 7800GT's idle never goes above 42c from what ive seen so far.
