5.1 surround

    im using my abit IC7-G motherboard's built in 5.1 surround soundcard. i went through all the settings, control panel, soundcard preferences, everything and all 5 speakers and the sub work when i do a test but the sub doesnt produce sound when i play music or a movie that i know is in 5.1 sound, only makes the "ding" sound when i test. any help?

    Some onboard soundcards possibly yours doesn't upmix your audio. So for music you only have a 2 channel signal.. so no subwoofer. Now with a movie you need to make sure the software is setup properly for 5.1. Driver are some times to blame..etc. Onboards are usually just junk and a add-in soundcard is suggested.
