    Okay, let's do this.

    1) Cores needed for gaming:

Apologies for it being from April 2015, but it's the one I remember. Plus it's a bit more relevant than a 6 year old article and other speculation articles.

IN MY OPINION a fast quad core (hyperthreaded or not) is a sound investment gaming wise.

    2) SLI doesn't need 6 or more cores IN MY OPINION. Sure, 6 core processors tend to have more PCIe lanes, but since you can run two cards at 8x, a 28 lane CPU should be just fine. I base this on numerous (yes, if you ask, I'll provide links) Google results showing the results of running single GPUs at 8x and 16x, then extrapolating that to SLI - which, annoyingly, is harder to find results for. That leaves you with a whole 12 PCIe lanes to mess around with.

    3) Please, PLEASE stop bring up Forza. It's ONE game out of many and I personally don't care about it.

This post was most assuredly NOT written by Donald Trump.

Forza scales like crap, at least demo did.. forza apex was better - used all my 8threads and ran faster too.

Imo There is no game yet that needa 6core to run optimal..maybe in 4years.

Should be more threads then cores.

Because IMHO, i5's are worthless anymore.

I wont have another quad core. Havent since 2014.

My i7 950 @ 4ghz with 8 threads destroyed my i5 4460 @ 3.4ghz eventhough the 950 was 5 years older. In newer games I have seen more threads actually helping for once.
    Its not always the case.
But I feel i5s should be 6 cores at least with no HT.

I LIKE HOW EVERYONE SUGGESTS A REAL WORLD SCENARIO SHOULD NOT BE JUSTIFIABLE! BWAHAHAHA! Not to mention multiple articles stating the roadmap Intel is going! You dont want lots of threads? OK ask BF1 users on 4 core setups how alt+tabbing in and out of game is going... also, multitasking MUST be so much worse with more cores... ROFLMAO!

Here is video of what you guys are calling "crappy".

I was thinking about 6core 12thread cpu there, since Dburgo has it and he's the one kinda saying that.

And yes I agree, 8 thread as optimal, but overall its still a 4core cpu where crappy games can't use HT.

Me too, my next upgrade will be true 8core 16threads. I was already thinking of doing that when I bought Haswell, well at least its a 8 threaded one, also that true 8core turned out €€€€ and 1 year too late..
I had Q9450 before and I said no way I'm going to get another 4core/4thread again.:nerd:

Anyway, almost forgot about this thread topic, cpu won't matter much at 4K just fyi Dburgo. :D
Try it, downclock to 3ghz and then OC to 4.5ghz in your favorite 4k game.

I have, believe it or not, it makes a difference! Because single thread speed is diminished. If you go to msconfig and tell windows to only see 1 core is where you would see problems.
