Okay, let's do this. 1) Cores needed for gaming: Apologies for it being from April 2015, but it's the one I remember. Plus it's a bit more relevant than a 6 year old article and other speculation articles. IN MY OPINION a fast quad core (hyperthreaded or not) is a sound investment gaming wise. 2) SLI doesn't need 6 or more cores IN MY OPINION. Sure, 6 core processors tend to have more PCIe lanes, but since you can run two cards at 8x, a 28 lane CPU should be just fine. I base this on numerous (yes, if you ask, I'll provide links) Google results showing the results of running single GPUs at 8x and 16x, then extrapolating that to SLI - which, annoyingly, is harder to find results for. That leaves you with a whole 12 PCIe lanes to mess around with. 3) Please, PLEASE stop bring up Forza. It's ONE game out of many and I personally don't care about it.
