I don't know but it appears to me that this thread looks dead. The last couple of pages of entries where people asked questions were ignored. Seems like a place for people to talk about everything but resolving issues with these cards.

Enjoying my 4870 x2 ran sweet out of the box. Had it for a month. Runing 9.4 cat.

Still learning quite a bit about it. Aside from the 2d hot core issue which I fixed on my own. I love this card. Runs idle at 31c idle and currently 57c full load. On GTA 4 the only game I own that taxes the system to its max.

I'm using the Tri Cool Asus with the 3 fans. It seems to be the best 4870 x2 card around in my opinion from reading about everyone elses temps are. If your worried about temps consider it.

I had alot of crashes with 9.2. 9.3 fixed all of them and 9.4 seems to be even better.

Im runing vista 64 and I must say that is got to be the best OS I've ran so far. Rock solid with no issues other than a few blue screens but that was from messing around with overclocking.

    I run everything stock.

    You're kidding right??
50% of the games out there are troublesome with the 64bit, the drivers are buggy as hell, not to mention that "old stuff" doesn't work anymore, not even emulated.

Plus, and this is tested, VISTAx64 with 4GB RAM is way slower than VISTAx32 with the same ommount of memory...

Your kidding right? I have no issues with games whatsoever and im on 64 bit vista. Matter of fact, i have no issues with games in 64 bit in windows 7 either.

Great now compare your performance to that of XP.

edit - I know it's quoting an old post but...
You mean 975mhz mem. Dunno where you got 3990.

I, for one, have compared my system with multiple boot drives in XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 and there is virtually no difference in performance in games. In fact, Vista 64 is ahead by a few frames. Outside of gaming, Vista 64 performs much better in my day to day applications and allows me to use more RAM for my Virtual PCs that I am normally limited on in 32 bit operating systems.

In my case, it is VISTA 64 FTW!

Because is GDDR5 you need to multiply by 4. So 975x4 =3900.
He did some overclock of +90Mhz (or by 22.5...)

Did you try playing older games like I've said??! And I don't mean CS. Try an Unreal 2, DeusEx, Descent:Freespace, older NFS, then we'll talk about...:biggun:

Vista to Xp performance is apparently very system dependant.
(Edit: I think the difference might be the dual versus Quad-core CPU ...)
    My system is also multi-boot: XP(32) Vista-64 and W7-64.
XP and W7 are partitions on my velociraptor raid-0 array and Vista is on my Intel X18M SSD.
But I've had Vista on the Raptors before I 'upgraded' that partition to W7, So I was able to test and can confirm that the HDD did not change much in OS performance (apart from start-up times and file transfer speeds)
Vista is very close to XP on my system, but not faster.
On average Vista is about 5% to 10% slower in most applications and games, with exception of a few DX10 games that are marginally faster.
W7 is a little faster, but also not very much. I do like the look and feel of W7 though.

No I'm not kidding Windows Xp wouldnt run with 6 gigs of ram, I tried it with 4 for awhile and had stability issues and most of my games didnt run very well. Wanted to see how Vista ran with 6. Installed Vista 64 and added the last sticks.

Much stable and no gaming issues to date.

OMG i see noobs everywhere.. 64bit vista user here and no game problems .. tell a lie manhunt has some adress probs but is fixed with a simple hex hack .. i have ALL nfs and they play fine. so ppl should learn how to setup and maintain a pc a lil better before they start complaining that vista 64 is crap ....

Apparently you're a n00b kid. Learn how to speak first then call other n00bs. If you thing all average users out there know how to hex hack games in order to proper run them, then you're even bigger n00b than I imagine first. :smack:

i know the older nfs dont run because a dll file of direct x isnt included on vista.
if you google it you will find it, perhaps thats the same case with the other games you mentioned.
if a game doesnt run initially on vista, mostly there is a way to make it run eventually. just dont give up too soon
