My screenshot is during gaming. So does that mean I'm not using one of my cores while gaming?

I gave that a shot, disabled the other monitor. 3Dmark still reset my computer in the same spot. Weird.

Did ya reboot after you disabled it, CCC is funny that way.

Correct, you went back to 2d mode at the desktop eventhough the game was still in the background. On the other hand, try this. Do what you did before to get the screenshot, but this time click the instance of gpu-z that shows no activity. You will only have one instance active in the foreground at a time. Whichever one is highlighted will be active. Even without a game going in the background, you must highlight that instance to see any activity.
    Know what I mean Vern.

Actually, I didn't. But when I ran 3Dmark it rebooted for me :) I just ran it and it reset my computer again.

I would think if it was a driver problem it would just crash 3Dmark. Since it resets my computer every time I am leaning towards some hardware issue. My first thought would be the Creative sound card, but since 3Dmark doesn't use any sound that doesn't seem likely. But with this fresh install I don't really have any other hardware...

    Hmmm
That scene has always flickered once or twice at that exact moment your describing no matter what hardware I was using, but never rebooted.

In ccc, digital panel, attributes, dvi settings, do you have alternate dvi operational mode checked? Play around with thise two dvi settings.

editing the profile for the core and mem speeds are not sticking for the 8.52 cat. ? Is this the case ? fan speed is working but i cant create a low profile just for web browsing.

yeah there are some issues with some people trying ot go that low. some are successful some aren't, i think it depends on how you are trying to do it, or what you are using to change the clocks.

how and and what im using is editing the profile xml. I have done it with the 8.8 cat and it works but i have removed them cause it was crap and went back to the 8.52 lowering the core and mem on these cat. is not sticking while increasing or overclocking it does.

i'm able to lower my mem to 250mhz but the core always stays at 500mhz. try to get a lower memory, from what i read the core doesn't do anything for the temp, the memory does. my 4870x2 idle at 38c because i lowered the memory to 250mhz. it used to idle at around 50c with the same fan speed.

Hey fellow gurus...finally got my Sapphire 4870 X2 today! :)

Just a quick question, what driver version is most current / works best for the X2?

    I've installed Catalyst v8.8 atm...anything that I'm missing/should be doing?

    Thanks in advance!! :)
