Q it's quad; so you know, get it !!!!!!!!!

prices are going crazy with over-stocks and Intel releasing new chips

you will see more things like that in the near future

at ma reference shop, the Q9550 dropeed almost 90 euros the price.......while duos are still the same......

    /BTW don't OC on stock coolers...bad bad idea .....

what happened with the Q8400??? no luck also ????

then, you might want to hold arse for a while, and get a complete new setup when you had the money, with i5,i7,amd or whatever suits best...........

is it worth getting an Q8400?

its only 2.6ghz which is failry low lol

and either way, if overclock it i still have to buy a heatsink

Q8400 are +/- poor overclockers, but you can get it to 3.2 yall be fine......
it's a quad, so not only speed helps in this case.......
and yes, you need a heatsink

    e8400 can be "easily" OC to 3.6 / 3.8 .......

Since you are on a single GPU card, I would get the e8400, new heatsink and 1066 RAM; that would set you free for now....... less chances of having probs to OC .........

the RAM does not have to be expensive, just but std RAM but AT LEAST at 800Mhz and drop the actual one; if you mix ram youll make it work at the lowest specs of the mix......

Crysis is extremely GPU bound, as such, overclocking your CPU won't yield much benefit. Do you have any other games to test out the OC?

Crytek games are CPU bound. I mean you would see improvements if you move to quad. Try COD 4/5, Fallout 3, Brothers in Arms benches. You will see considerable improvements;)
