I'm currently gaming at 1152x864 on a 19" monitor. Either the 4850 or 4870 will go on an Abit IP35-e with a E8400 @ 3.6GHz with 2GB of Ballistix. What should I get. I'm not really sure if my psu can handle the 4870, and don't wanna get the 70 if it's not going to help me out much.

At that resolution I'd go for the 4850... they're a great card.

I thought about my psu. I probably would have had to get another psu if I got the 4870. I found a $15 off coupon for the Sapphire 4850 so I bought it. $145 after MIR.

go for HD4850 , will suit your rig imo better than HD4870 , but HD4870 will be more future proof, however you are running low res soo dont worry.

    Again : HD4850 ;p

the 4850 is great for you but if you are planning to get a better monitor with a higher resolution in near future i would go with the 4870 (i would get it myself if i could afford it)

I simply love my HD4850 - I have trouble free gaming at even 1680x1050.

uhmz might be noob question but isnt the only change of 4850 and 4870 a higher clockspeed?

And a lot more bandwidth because of the higher clock speeds and GDDR5 memory, which leads to higher performance :)

yeah and GDDR5 on the HD4870. But soon GDDR5 HD4850 versions should come.
