    Hi Guru's,

So I just bought a 6870. It was on a whim, and I want to get ready for Black Ops, so a new card was in my future and it's the 6870.

Now, most of what I have been reading says that the 6870 is not really a worthy upgrade from a 58xx, but what about from a 4850? What kind of gains should I expect?

Secondly, what about my CPU? Should I get a better one? if so, like what? A BE 965?

Thanks for any help you can provide me.

    Tommy

You'll see a good improvement over your 4850, the x3 720 is a good chip and is fine for gaming.

I asked about CPU bottleneck with the 720 in another thread: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=3744741#post3744741

    **EDIT**

Ill give overclocking a go after I get a new PSU.

It will be a huge jump, I went from a 4850 to my 470 which performs similarly to the 6870.

What do you mean? The 6870 uses more power draw then a 5770 or lower.. still, its pretty power efficient. Full load a heavily oced 6870 will draw max 350w.
