I feel there is plenty to spare prozin... just a bit nervous at the moment. I just got 2G of Corsair 3500LL RAM today that should be fun to play with. I really want to start upping the FSB on this sucker. (My son sure like me upgrading, he gets 1G of Corsair 3200XL RAM out of this!)

Yep it says that because the core of your chip is a R480 (X850)

My old X800GTO2 used to do that.

WEll for games you could do with more Ram ( Another 512 should suffice, p4's love running memory in dual channel mode).

Also your PSU is questionable. And will probably hinder your OC potential.

Yep you want either a GIG of wamo fast RAM or 2GB of poop like my GEIL value. Probably work out the same price if I got 1 GIG of low latency RAM. This GEIL value stuff has horror timmings. 3-4-4-4-8 or something like that, the BIOS is a whole reboot away and I'm lazy.

    Ok guys. Thanks!

btw, one more thing. The cpu performance is worse if it's on high temps?

Because my cpu performace is getting worse since i bought the new board and gfx and if i'm not wrong, the temps on load are about 54c.

    High temps = bad performance?

    Thanks

Right, im back up and running with my new watercooling setup, and finally had a chance to play around with this DFI Expert board i now have. Anyhow, new high score for me on 3dm06:

Oh, and here is the Orb link:

pretty easy going. My CPU does the same as on my SLI-DR, but on less voltage, which will hopefully give me some more headroom. :)

Damn, I wish I would of bought a Dual core CPU instead of this opty, I'm pushing 2970mhz and I barely get 1100 on the CPU score.:frown:

Yeah.. i have a opty 150 in command .. begin ask me if i will not finally go for a x2 4400+ or a opty 170... my prob, it's not really important for me do a best score cpu in 3D06 and actually the dual-core will be useful only for this, i like more try go for a 3.1-3.2Ghz on the Opty 150 and look for FX60 or X2 4800+ (or 5200+) next..

I have two systems, one with an Opty 148 at 3.0 GHz and one with a 170 at 2.6 GHz. Same in game performance and same benches. I would definitely recommend going the dual core route.

The nice thing about the dual core is that it runs those clocks at 1.39V. I need 1.55V on the single core for the 3.0 GHz. So, the dual core is actually cooler for the same performance. Not a bad deal. And, when you ALT-TAB out of a game, you really notice the difference.

Dude, i have heard before about this and agree, but the ask is on price range for dual i was thinking go for a 4800+, but... the 4400+ is more on my price range, and my prob it's for OC it at a good level.. or i use OCZ 4800 and i have see many problem with this type of DDR, dual core and DFI for do a real good OC.. i will hope can do a 290x10 at minimum, but with a X24400+ i have some doubt.., the X24800+ seems clock fine, not this one it seems.. the Opty 170 can be a choice.. hard choice hard choice... can table with the Opty DC for 2.9 for sure, but i have a doubt it will keep a 1:1 ratio on DDR, not sure.. i need see.. In real i have take the 3 CPU (150-170-X24400+) in Option and will make my choice at last moment...
Pehraps my water system will help me alot and the dual core will make a good choice finally.. ( A643700+1.7V,2.9Ghz -27°C in idle, don't know if it can be useful for the OC of a dual-core?) but i see this monday if all is good, i can play with the Opty150 and think upgrade again in some month for a dual...
But in real.. i had finally a bad expe with my 3700+, and it make some time now i will try pass the 3.1Ghz.. my OCZ is clearly adapted for this at the moment the CPU don't limit me...

The ask can be like that: with my DDR i have a range of 280x11 -> 310x10 ( this OCZ keep 340Mhz easy), if a dual core using a mutli locked at 10x ( the 170), can keep from 200x10 ->280- 290 (300) x10.. dou you think it's possible?

After that if you tell me perf are same at 2.6 vs 3.0Ghz this can be good, too...

I got an opty 144 for $170, cant get a dual core proc for anywhere near that price.
