In the wake of Microsoft Windows 10 launch, NVIDIA released its latest GeForce driver targeted at the new OS, GeForce 353.62 WHQL. This driver offers full support for WDDM 2.0, and DirectX 12 (feature level 12_0) support for NVIDIA GPUs based on the "Maxwell" and "Kepler" architectures. NVIDIA plans to enable DirectX 12 support for older "Fermi" (GTX 400, GTX 500 series) GPUs later this year. The driver also adds SLI profiles for a handful new games such as Batman: Arkham Knight (which was previously removed), Killing Floor 2, and Total War: Arena.

yes... and no have kepler optimizations too... maybe because 353.62 uses old branch r352 and these optimizations are included in r353... but ok

Nothing wrong there. Kepler is known to only support FL 11.0 with API 12 support.

It'd be nice if someone qualified could spill the details of how "vital" Kepler only supporting feature level 11_0. My main PC has Kepler!

Why the hell AMD GCN 1.0 cards have better support in DirectX 12 than NVidia Kepler cards?

IMO it's simply unfair to all of us - Kepler cards owners! NVidia wake up!

I'm confused. Do kepler cards support dx12 (somehow) or not?

Because GCN was build in mind to be more future proof, and it is more then both Fermi & Kepler together.. I would blame only nvidia for being so cheap and postpond it on later Gx chip revisions, Fermi > Kepler > Maxwell.

Kepler supports few parts, but not much, at least the most important basics, Fermi just a glimpse of that.

    It does support DX12.

People need to differentiate between the DX12 API and its feature levels. All feature levels will benefit from the lower CPU overhead.

It's just like how the DX11 API had feature levels for DX9 and DX10/10.1 hardware

Looking at that chart AMD cards have more support than Maxwell tier 2 as well let alone Kepler.

I've seen that chart before, but never its source. Does anyone know its origin?

Although nvidia needs to fix DX11 api calls in Win10 again.

It is slower then win8.1 driver e.g. 353.49.

Not really, it will still support tiled/bindless resources, dx12 multi threading and all that, only the most fancy dx12 will be software, conservative raster and raster ordered view.

!st, I only knew of tier 1 and 2 which is dx 12 and 12.1. I didn't know their was a tier 3 for dx 12. Afaik, maxwell supports tier 1 and 2 of dx 12. As for kepler, I feel for you guys. I have a friend who is still using fermi (gtx 480) so don't feel that bad.

This kind of reminds of that Romanian guy who constantly threatens people on the Nvidia and Steam forums and constantly trolls and shouts about Nvidia conspiracy's that a GTX 460 can run the latest games at 1080P max settings with a simple driver tweak :giggle2:

he still do that, new day new name nvidia can't get rid of him.

Although he is way overboard, he got a point nvidia did cheat on Kepler customers, just see how well R7970 280X did and do and how bad kepler is doing, plus the whole nvidia downgrade kepler went so viral, thanks mainly to the witcher 3, that u can't deny that nvidia gave a big F finger to keplers.

As for that chart and win10 driver, kepler again left behind... no optimization carried on in the latest driver.

We will see in real world games how good GCN and counterpart nvidia card, just wait till 2k16.

Yeah that guy on those forums is completely nuts, I asked him why he continually trolls and he told me he was going to track me down and murder me for supporting Nvidia, The guy is definitely on the loopy side.

On the topic of DX feature levels though, The thing that has me concerned is DX12 feature level 3 support, You'd think Nvidia would have feature level 3 especially considering AMD have it on some of their cards i.e the R9-285, Fury line etc...
