That's what she said... although it has nothing to do with 3080Ti :D

Pulled the trigger on Strix LC 3080Ti few hours ago, it'll take a while till it gets here, first hi-end GPU here on my side after almost a decade. Wondering if I really needed that one since I don't have much time to game past few years, or should I had to spend that money on new car next year, looking at new Mazda 6, she's gonna kill me if we dont't change our Opel Zafira next year. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it :)

Finally nabbed an RTX 3080ti FE, then upgraded to a 4K monitor. Gaming has never been sweeter. :)

Best is to show us Timespy score :p
    2xPin can do 19k+ easy (i think i can beat 20k soon).
    3xPin can do 21k+

Deliver us the Moon finished, solid Game with fine RT implementation (You want to use Vsync in this one).

Just wondering what is Asus's policy for water-cooling these cards regarding warranty and the such
    And
Can anyone recommend a good water block for this card? I'm assuming waterblocks for Aus 3080 cards should work?

    The card is a beast.
4k gaming maxed out, cooler and quieter than my 1080ti.
The only think I don't like is the power management.
Did I expect to have more performance with less power consumption?
    No.
Did Nvidia promised me to have something less than a 350W card?
    No.
    BUT
While I had no intention to experiment with the card as I don't o/c anymore,
I read about undervolting and started to make some tests with ABs voltage curve and different clock/voltage scenarios.
My results will not surprise you or make you wiser:
    upload_2021-10-10_19-8-44.png

The green line(1709) is the profile I use more after the end of my experimentations.
The little green numbers/percentages is the comparison of the above profile with the default state of the card.

In Tomb Raider the default profile has 17% higher consumption for a 3% increase in average framerate.
In SOTR the default profile has 30% higher consumption for a 8% increase in average framerate.
In GTAV the default profile has 56% higher consumption for a 2% increase average framerate.
In Superposition the default profile has 12% higher consumption for a 0.1% increase in average framerate.

Not the best method to use, but in order to have a base of discussion this gives us 28,75% higher consumption for a 3.2% increase in average framerate.
It is like buying a car which can hit 100km/h consuming 10lt of gas and 103.2km/h consuming 12.5lt.
Some stereo speakers that produce 60db consuming 50W and 61.92 consuming 64,35W.
An oven that can cook at 200c consuming 250W and at 206.4c consuming 321.8W.
Not a big deal someone will say.
But I feel like something could have been designed better.
My ignorance is not judging people who design chips of a complexity I am not even able to imagine.
I just don't like the fact that the average user will simply plug the card and draw 300W just to play an indie game.
Given the constantly rising energy costs and the constantly overheating planet.
I play games like NBAK2K20, PES2021, Automobilista 2 with my card downclocked at 1100Mhz averaging 90-100fps and consuming 150W less power than default.
I also don't like the fact I have to use a monitoring program constantly running in the background in order to have the card in reasonable power consumption margins.
The above is not really a complain.
As I have the power when I need it and I can make my card consume less when I don't need it.
These were just some thoughts I wanted to share and eventually discuss with my fellow gurus:)

    Thanks for this!

Ampere is strange and bad. You see it in data such as you've collected and you see it in benchmarks of 3080 vs 3080ti vs 3090. It just doesn't scale well with an increase in core counts or bizarely, clock speed.

In the past if I saw core count/frequency scaling like this, it would 100% be caused by a CPU bottleneck but benchmarks prove that is not the case.

So... what is going on with Ampere?

I guess because reviewers like to test the card in its stock configuration, that's why all these cards will chew as much power as possible and spit out as many FPS as possible by default :D.

Rather I think the stock TDP for Ampere is toned down because higher TDP could cause outrage, meanwhile AIB pick like 480W TDP for their high end 3080Ti/3090

With 375W TDP, my OCed 3090 boost to around 1950mhz/850mV, while the maximum clock ceiling for my 3090 is 2205mhz/1.093v, and it would use ~500W at those clocks. So 33% more power for 13% higher clocks.

People don't need much knowledge about undervolting to reduce power consumption, a simple V-Sync ON or FPS cap can also do the trick.

It's like Vega LC to me, Great GPU but You need to Tweak it right :D
For most gaming scenario (60-70FPS Cap) we don't need more than 1605MHz at 762mV, hek i even Play CP2077 that way, and it's fine - i mean really smooth (Psycho RT* turned OFF for main Map & ON for Missions).

*For Psycho in City You neeed ~1700MHz... Rest of my games do just fine in 1600MHz :p (Average W is at ~80-127tW by HWiNFO64).

The Medium is finished now, great Game with good narration 9/10
Optimisation is on the lower side 6/10, GFX are good, RT effects are well in place.

DLSS Collie 2 was used with Performance profile (game looking great BTW).
Can be played with Quality, but game sometimes hitches to low 30FPS ;) so better use DLSS Perf. no big difference TBF....

wccftech have a good article on the poor Ampere scaling:

    https://wccftech.com/nvidia-rtx-30-...e-curious-case-of-missing-gaming-performance/

According to this, it looks like the APIs and software that use them cannot exploit the capabilities of the cards. This is good news because it might mean significant performance increases in the future.

I'd put my money on Vulkan leading the way here. MS have shown that they have no interest in improving PC gaming performance while they have the competing Xbox.
