3060ti vs 6700xt a year later

so 60ti limited at this point,make you wonder wtf nvidia is thinking stick with 8gb with 4060/ti well proving the rumor are true among other decisions, I really want new gpu, and i can get one gddr6x from microcenter for just over $400 I sure it would be better then 1070ti, but i really dont think 8gb is good idea

 

FSR 2 mod works kinda well in Doom Eternal, often looks better than TAA 100%.
I think the game runs something like 20-25% faster on the 6700 XT than it did on the 3060. This is not great, but on the other hand, since it's RT, it's not bad either.
But not comparable to Sons of the Forest, where performance exploded >50%.

 

Is the fsr2 mod actually working in doom? can you link me which one you used?

3060ti g6x? nah it will perform the same as g6 version and still being memory limited. Avoid 8gb cards.

Aim for some used 3080 12gb or 3080ti maybe 4070/ti if you want new. From amd 6800/6900xt or 7900xt if you want new.

sadly the 3070/80 are off the table way to much power draw. 4070ti would been option IF it was like 500$ but not double the price i payed for my 1070ti.

I really hope the 4060/ti rumers are false and are a min 12gb and not castrated bandwith and specs. but then again then again there probably gona be 650-699$ cards. I want new gpu but at those prices.

I can just walk into microcenter and get 13700k+Asus z790 Plus+ 32gb 6000 ram for $650. which sound like the better deal to me. Though i wish micorcenter did these kind deals with 65tdp varients. but i hear i can limit pl1 and pl2 on mother board these days so i can cap thing to 125w max?

 

I cap my 13700KF at 150W PL1/PL2, though in game the highest CPU power consumption I have seen is 80-100W, most games are only around 50W.

My guess 4060Ti should come with 10GB VRAM on 160bit bus, enough for 1440p RT minus some outliers

 

It does perform better on nvidia cards. Diablo 2R also did better on 3070 but framerate is high enough on both cards for me not to care much.

1440p both cards seems to get 120fps. That said there is already talk about some high vram usage and raytracing isnt even available yet in this beta.

 

Yeah, HD textures are said to fill up 24GB of VRAM and crash the game on 10GB cards. We'll see how stable versions after some patches will fare, but max textures with RT + FG on 1440p DLSS Q on 10GB card? Doubt it.

 

Your 6700XT is clocked high. Is this stock for the red devil or have you manually OC'd it?

 

Manual 2800mhz max, 2700mhz min, memory at 2150mhz (17.2gbps) fast timings. Its around 10% faster than stock, basically 6750xt.

 

Raising min clocks imho is placebo, as AMD's clock adjustment is very quick (unlike somebody else's).

That gives me instant black screen hang in Witcher 3 Remastered. But ya, also went "to the max" with clocks otherwise, Asus Dual cooler can handle 190W ASIC at 73°C ~1150rpm.
Would be funny if GPU could be convinced to 3GHz via MPT, but I probably won't bother.

 

Raising the minimum makes sure i stay above 2700mhz and not drop even in gpu bound games. As for fast timings i tested quite a few games and no issues whatsoever even with memory slider maxed out. I read most cards can do it some cant.

I stay at 55c pulling close to 220w with this red devil cooler, such overkill.

 

That's a lot of power for a 14 TFLOPs GPU.
My 6800XT is running at 2300 while using 240W at most. Usually is closer to 200-220W.

 

It is consistent. Its always above 200w but card is pushed to max. I could use some uv save some power but performance comes first.

Did you try pushing harder on your 6800xt? I've seen card can come close to 300w.

 

At default it uses 280w in heavy games. While running around 22350-2400 mhz.

 

GPU ASIC reported via driver? That's really weirdly high, I usually always stay below 190W without ReLive capture at 2.8GHz & 1.2V.

 

Will check when i get home. I see in your screenshot card is running 2710mhz pulling 190w. I set the same 2800mhz and card is running same clocks as yours. That 94c on the hotspot is concerning tho im barely at mid 70's. Lower the voltage a bit from 1.2v mine is stable at 1.15v.

 

Even 105°C hotspot wouldn't be an issue and comparisons don't make sense when you don't mention your fan speed. Voltage seems to be locked, changes via WM have no effect. Which perhaps is even for the better, as it was totally bugged with 6800/6900 reference designs for which I thus resorted to MPT.

 

Im sorry but 76c on the gpu and 94c hotspot is hot and i would probably repaste it or Asus did a lousy job designing the cooler. That is same temps i was getting with 3070 gaming oc. Its like running an Ampere gpu all over again.

I always set my fan speed to match temperature. So 55c = 55% fan speed and thats basically highest i've seen on this card. Wattman voltage slider should not be locked and should have an effect.
