I'm surprised 3060ti is now faster than 6700xt,though 6700xt was marketed as a challenger for 3070

3060ti scores the average of 108,75fps and it's faster in every one of them
6700xt scores the average of 100fps, so 3060ti is 8.75% faster

both are running 1440p like a dream, but 6700xt was supposed to be competition for 3070,which scores 123,4 fps and just crushes the 6700xt.

it's a really weird case cause rx6800 still manages to score higher than 3070ti so it's not the drivers or skewed tests.it's almost like 6700xt is lacking the raw power to compete.

with rt it's 74 fps avg. for 3060ti and 61fps for the 6700xt,so 21% difference.

like I said,it's really strange cause it's not a case of drivers getting better or worse on any side. It's 6700xt just failing to be where it's supposed to,between 3060ti and 3070.

6800 scores 137.5 fps on average at 1440p,a whole 26.5% faster than 3060ti.that's pretty insane given it's also quite power efficient.Wish I could get it but I think the 3060ti is doing really nice too.

Comparing launch vs now, that 26% number is actually very accurate. It's 6700xt that just couldn't cope with 2021 games, falling behind 3060ti.

I think they are pretty much even with 3060ti pulling ahead with rt. I would still get 6700xt becouse 3060ti will get limited with only 8gb vram in future games.

Even the upcoming intel alchemist gpus have 12/16gb.

not what the tests are showing
6700xt was faster when it came out in early 2021.but testing post-launch 2021 titles only,it's slower.

I dont see its getting slower they still show similar performance but i do feel 6700xt will turn this around in 2022.

it's strange though, cause 6800 is the same 26% faster, and big navi is still kicking ass against 3080/3090.
6700xt had a bad year, let's not forget this was marketed as 3070 competitor, not slower than 3060ti.

vram usage tests show that you're quite likely to be bottlenecked by 6G at 1080p in some games, and a lot less by 10G at 4K.1440p with 8G is the least likely combination.Especially on nvidia cards. They're shown to use between 5.7G to 7G most of the times, while 1080p is almost always 5-6G,8-9G for 4K.

It's not a good sign for 6700xt,6800 was 22% faster on launch, but 37.5% in the 2021 games tested.

I think the problem lies within the specs themselves.Comparing it to 6800,they cut down the number of CU from 60 to 40,compensating with higher core clock.Same with vram bus,96MB is just not doing enough at 1440p to compensate for the cut down bus.

Thats a 60cus vs 40cus and 6700xt is bandwidth starved with that 192bit/96mb ic.

6700xt is not a bad card but the prise is. Like you saw cheapest i can find costs 900euros. If we talk msrp 3060ti looks better tho but like i said 8gb vram will be a limiting factor in the near future same goes for 3070.

    yeah,that's what I think too.not enough compute power,not enough bandwidth too,just not enough to compete with 3070 that's 96rop/5888cuda (fp32+fp32/int,but still) with a full 256-bit bus.

can't see 8G limiting a 3060ti/3070 though.not at 1440p.The difference only got bigger post launch despite the 8G.

You had good deal on your 3060ti. In this times 650$ is a steal. I would get one too lol

    Nvidia already responding with 3070ti 16gb and 3080 12gb for a reason...

well the reason is they want money primarily.
and aren't they both cancelled or postponed ? I think they are only doing these if arc turns out too good.So has rather little to do with 12G on 6700xt.

With 3070 consistently beating 2080 Ti across those games, I think Nvidia has been optimizing their drivers for Ampere, particularly regarding memory management.

Games like Deathloop and FH5 chew through a ton of VRAM, yet the 3060Ti and 3070 perform just fine, much better than 2080Ti / 6700XT with 11/12GB VRAM.

Nvidia has always been better at memory management, the way I see it, 3060Ti/3070 would only fall short when Nvidia stop optimizing for them, though with the help of DLSS, these 2 GPUd can live long life @ 1440p

It uses around 10gb vram and yes 6700xt and 2080ti are faster than 3060ti not other way around.

Huh? didn't you look at the new benchmark or you selectively disregarded it?

    death.png

And nope, Deathloop uses 90% of available VRAM, it uses around 21.5GB on my 3090 at 4K Ultra RT + DLSS, frametimes are very consistent though.

    yup.
that's what he does.early game version and early drivers, cause noone updates those

new re-test appeared, again amd sponsored game like re8,and once again 6700xt is nowhere near 3070 at 1440p,1fps slower than 3060ti.Same with rt.
    https://gamegpu.com/action-/-fps-/-tps/far-cry-6-test-2021

that's fifth game out of five where 6700xt is,by a bigger or smaller margin, slower than when tested on release, with 2020 games and earlier.I hope they test more of those.5 paints a picture, but ideally we'd need 7-10 to get a proper insight.

didn't expect 6700xt to fall so much behind 3070 in new games.I guess what we've seen in early reviews was the best case scenario for a card that's so cut down in compute units and memory bandwidth.Frankly even with 3060ti would still be fine,3060ti is a pretty fast card for 1440p,but the average of these 5 games shows it's a little slower. The problem is it costs as much as 3070 and it's even 20% slower before you factor in dlss/rt.
It's weird given how good 5700xt was against 2070 Super to see it's successor just fall behind 3060ti.I guess they just baited people with the vram bufer, while the gpu should not be near 480msrp.It would make an awesome 6600XT at 380 really.

Well from TPU reviews, the 3060Ti and 3070 gain about 2.5% in performance compare to 6700XT since the launch of 6700XT

    old review

    new review
    new.png

New review include those VRAM hogging titles like Deathloop, Far Cry 6, RE Village no less. If award-winning games like It takes Two, Kena Bridge of Spirit, Guardian of The Galaxy, Forza Horizon 5 are included, it gonna look way worse for 6700XT.

    fh5 added,that's 6 out of 6 that 3060ti wins at 1440p,especially in min. fps
    https://gamegpu.com/racing-simulators-/-гонки/forza-horizon-5-test-2021
the card we're supposed to compare 6700xt, rtx3070, has 27.5% higher min fps and 21% higher average

no amount of vram will make 6700xt compete with 3070.

tpu has +20 games in the review, and already there's some difference with those 3 added.

2021 games performance,3060ti is indeed slightly faster than 6700xt,by 6%.3070 is 20% faster.

But 6700XT will be better in the future when both 6700XT and 3060Ti are obsolete right?

Also no one would ever care about RT right?

Kinda moot no? Given that actually getting a 3060Ti is basically impossible. Where as the 6700XT is an actually obtainable card, even if the prices are bonkers.
