So I just got myself a xbox360 controller for the PC after gaming with a KBD/M since forever and this has led to a renewed interest in 2d platformers for me. Playing with a controller is definitely easier for 2d games and I have just started playing some good ol' 2d platformers out there. Here is the list I have played/planning to play in the near future. Please do suggest if you have any others to add: Rayman Origins Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Sonic series Braid Life Goes On Rochard Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit Have already played the Trine and Shank games in the past with a KB/M
Blade Kitten xD Bastion (not really 2D but a really good one though) Dust: An Elysian Tail Oddworld (not sure if the controller can be mapped on this one)
wow thanks for the barrage of games! heard a lot about Super MeatBoy and that its a tough as nails hardcore platformer! Giana was pretty hard for me - will try this one out too. @MerolaC: 2.5 is also welcome
Strider is a pretty excellent metroidvania style game, if you want to move past pure platforming. And Cave Story+
Really liked Bastion when it came out - is there a sequel planned for it as would love to dive back in?
Spelunky and Super Meat Boy are my two favourites. Rogue Legacy is great too, although I struggle with it
Nah (don't think the story really needs it personaly), but they are working on a similar style of game with a new setting, due out next month. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transistor_(video_game)
Deadlight is well worth it found it really enjoyable and good story bit different I found it and nice visuals.
