Being 6 percent faster than the titan compared to a 7950 isn't mind blowing here. What that translates to frame rate wise is what, 4 frames? It's nice that they are not just refreshing, but it's not this giant jump in performance I was usually followed by a fresh start in how they name cards. It's really just catch up.

But if it's half the price that would make it a very nice card.

if its half the price i will put one in my htpc so i could game in the living room, and the wife could play the witcher 2 as she is a witcher fiend, she is looking forward to the third release. guess all we can do now is wait and see,

mini itx 4770k and a 290x sounds good for her.

Talking about fanboys...please.AMD drivers are not near stellar(CFX broken;they release some beta`s drivers to repair it but it is still broken;and SLI working just fine) also nvidia is in the same spot,I think they hired some AMD engies,;right now Mantle is just some beta API,until December we don`t know any benckmarks(Mantle vs DX 11.2);AMD Mantle is open and nvidia can use it to and the fact that AMD HW is in both consoles don`t mean anything .

Absolutely none of your business how others spend their money.

And as to whether it's a 'smart thing to do', that is pretty subjective.

    @ Off Topic/On Topic

You guys who get on here and wave the little green or red plastic swords really need to give it a rest.

I understand why CD does it, he gets paid for it.

Most (if not all of you) do not.

Both companies have great cards, go play and stop bickering.

I'm sure the 290X is going to be amazing for the price, but seriously what the hell are these graphs? Rating % of three different games averaged? What the **** kind of metric of performance is that?

In the PCOnline review the Titan and 290x trade blows. 290x is probably going to be significantly cheaper though. Nvidia is going to be forced to lower it's price. 290x is only going to get faster moving forward too with AMD's arch in pretty much everything + mantle. My next card will probably be AMD.

no both are ok, sometimes one team drivers suck sometimes the other, lately its not so green by nvidia.

Pricing scenario is another thing though.
One is full of pride, almost too much and I bet they say our diehard fanboys will do just fine..
The other team learns from mistakes and makes competitive products price, perf.wise and involves further lol

It may sound trollish, but that's how it is imo.

What I find always odd is why do this leaked results not just list perf in frames per second?

Am I missing something? maths was never my strong point...

While a large amount of both companies pricing is based on what they think they can get away with, cost price plus marketing and game development costs play a huge amount as well, that is why AMD cards are more expensive now than they were a few years ago.

That review above is worrying though, little but faster than a 780 and at a similar price isn't very exciting and the power usage and 94c temps just put me right off.

If this is true, definetly holding off until Mantle before looking at this.

That is just how competition works. If the titan did not exist and the 290x did, it would be priced how the titan is. But since it does exist, they need to undercut the price. And in response nvidia will lower their prices, or come out with even faster cards. We've seen this song and dance.
$700 is by no means cheap or reasonable.

Never owned an AMD graphics card owned loads of AMD CPUs

3dfx powervr and matrox then nivdia wish 3dfx was still around I would love to be a 3dfx fanboy

But I really need AMD to bring out a good GPU nivdia is so much better when there is competition I am hoping the 290x is awesome

I think it's so important to have healthy competition I am just used to nivdia drivers and over clocking nivdia GPUs it would take something very special for me to change to AMD GPU (May happen one day)
