Good luck Neo, what a pain in the ass.

I am going to wait I think and watch the market, well I need a beefier gpu for 120hz...(well i think so).

Hopefully those overlords will still be around or maybe other screens. I dont like buying a screen with built-in speakers.

Thks for this thread though guys has been good info.

  5. nah man, i'm running win 7 ultimate. The green vid issue is with anyone who uses the driver hack to make Hz overclocking possible especially with amd graphics cards, but specifically in crossfire systems. So you should have this issue too and if not, I want to know exactly the procedure you've followed :D

Thanks Veteran, just ordered one :) Overlooked the dead pixel policy on the other one.

    Thanks for the link, Veteran!

Up till now, these are the options we have for good perfect pixel policies regarding the Qnix QX2710:

    1) 2560x1440monitor.com:

Ignore what they mean by Dead Pixel (there is no Stuck Dead Pixel).

So Perfect Pixel policy: no stuck pixels, up to 1 dead pixel not in the center of the screen.

    2) ipsledmonitor.com:

    Under warranty:
Not sure whether they screen their monitors for stuck and dead pixels before they ship them (I suppose they do if they allow return for this reason), so I sent them an email. I also asked about whether they pay return shipping fees in the warranty period. They have specified that they pay return shipping for US / Canada for the 30-day return.

    3) accessorieswhole:

These guys actually understand the difference between stuck pixels and dead pixels.

Perfect Pixel policy: No stuck or dead pixels are allowed, which is fantastic.

You may want to ask if they do a glossy screen as some peeps may want glossy instead of matte.

Alright, I'm infuriated now. My near infinite patience has run out. The idiots haven't issued the refund for the S2740L monitor and say they won't until the U2713HMs are received. Two separate payments, two separate orders. Original order was in JUNE. I think I'm done with Dell. I'm going to tear this "manager" a new one as soon as she's done putting me on a 3 year hold.

Edit: Done, this "manager" now promises some sort of response by tomorrow. They claim they only received 1 of the 2 S2740L monitors when I shipped both at the same time, Purolator showed both delivered and Dell told me both were received. Now they are saying they only have one documented.

**** Dell, so unprofessional, so many points along the line had to go long to result in this. I spent a good amount of time explaining to the manager that so many different points had to go wrong, so many different staff members had to screw up for this to happen. I don't think I got through. This is what happens when untrained staff in India are dealing with first world problems across the planet, they don't give a crap.

It took me all of 2 minutes to call Purolator and have them email me the receipts for the two monitors showing someone at Dell signed for them. That included waiting a minute to go through the automated system.

I forwarded that to the manager at Dell and now their excuse is that there was a "mix up" on their end. What actually happened is that their lazy asses didn't bother properly document that the items were received.

I'd gladly pay more for items to get proper customer support from someone in country who can relate.

"Oh you haven't received a proper monitor in 2 months and haven't gotten a refund? I haven't had a clean glass of water in 2 years, how about you hang up and kill yourself!" - That's what they're thinking. I want to speak to the fat lady from Texas, not someone on the other side of the planet who literally could not possibly care less so long as s/he doesn't get fired. It's a completely different world, they are laughing on the inside when they hear someone complain about monitor problems. Louis C.K said something almost exactly like that regarding airlines.

They're getting sloppy with who they hire, in the past it was nothing like this which is why I always ordered from Dell with little hesitation.

Update: I'm kind of in disbelief now that I actually got some quick help this time aorund, I just got a call now. The refund has been set to be processed and should be done in 3-5 business days and they are sending a U2713H to avoid the cross hatching problem. They say it will take about 2 weeks to send it for whatever reason but I this point I don't give a crap.

The U2713H is not known to ever have cross hatching so even if I receive the original A00 it should be fine. It has a bit more input lag but I don't care about having 2 frames lag instead of 1.5 frames. I wonder if I'll notice any colour difference, probably not. It's 8 bit + FRC for "10 bit" colour vs the 8 bit the HM is.

    So, a happy ending maybe?

    OK quick update....

Ive had this screen for few weeks now and ive just turned the hz down from 100hz( I just leave it at 100hz 24/7) to 60hz. While moving around the desktop the mouse cursor does feel like a slideshow. Its no were near as smooth as it was at 100hz. Its very noticable when you use a higher hz for a while.
Just thought i would let you know.:)

Nice reading all this info about monitors. I currently have a HP ZR30W but I am wondering if I should switch for a better gaming experience.

I always used to say i will wait for dell to release one but i realised i could be waiting alongtime. Also if Dell were to release one of these it would probably be almost double the price than what they are now or even more.
