Hiii i hav a configuration like p4 3.0(530) intel 915 GAV sata 160 maxtor WITH

HYNIX 1.5 GIG DUAL CHANNEL pc3200 @400mhz (2-3-3-6) AND ONBOARD

VIDEO....im kinda wondering whether it will be wise to get a geforce 7900gt

339$ (canadian dollar) i have a budget in between 200-300$(expandable to

max 340$) :mad3: ......but iam not sure whether my system can fully utilize

this giant or any other pci express that my system can fully utilize......

though my cpu is wayyy too much weak but most of the games are not so cpu intensive so, what u say 7900 gt will be a good choice or my system will bottleneck it, if so then how much bottleneck it will create......i hav a plan to upgrade my cpu to 3.8 em64 and total 2gig DDR pc3200.

ur system will indeed be bottlenecked by that 7900gt. maybe a 7600gt would be a better fit. i recommended the 7900gt cus if u go to amd youll have a great card already:bigsmile:

Just game at 1280x1024 with 4XAA and you'll be fine and enjoying the power of the 7900GT. :D

Uh... Are you guys joking a 3GHZ intel will do fine with the 7900GT... If you overclock your CPU to 3.2+ you wont have any bottleneck at all! Go ahead and get the 7900GT, you'll see what I mean, you will do fine with that config.

I was joking, the intel should do alright. Your 7900gt won't be running at full speed but it won't be slowed down a huge amount either. CPU limitation in games is slightly overhyped I think. Don't get me wrong though, it's a real problem, but it's not like your 7900gt is gonna be cut to 50% percent or anything. Probably more like 80-90% of it's full power will be utilized. I'm no expert though.:frown:

your other options are 7600gt(about $250) or x1800gto(about $300), which are noticeably slower than the 7900gt for not much less cash($50-100).

the 7900gt would definately be worth the extra money, turn up the aa and af :)

yea i think it would defenetly bottleneck if the settings are low, but if u turn the res up (12x10, 16x12) and even 4xAA n 16xAF than it really shouldnt bottleneck very much (if at all)

Great card and it will bottleneck a little but you won't even notice anything.

dont worry about what people say about bottlenecks.all it really does is reduce the max fps you can enjoy in a game.like for instance maybe if you had a better cpu you would get 100fps but instead with ur curreny cpu you get 80fps.so dont worry to much about it.the 7900gt is good but they seem to be having lots of problems these days,so just be careful when choosing one.i reccomend the EVGA 7900gt KO because of the better cooling

Absurd to ask but stilll...out of curiousity when dx 10 cards will roll out with vista n games will be rendered with dx 10 so, what kind of performance degradation i might face with 7900gt......or atleast giv me a picture of what happened to dx8 cards running dx9 games

Good god do not listen to these fools. A 3.0 P4 won't bottleneck a damn 7900
    GT...jeeze people...a 3.0 P4 is still a mid to low high end CPU..it'll EASILY handle a 7900GT.
