Couldn't find answer anywhere, so thought i'd ask here. I need to connect PC and PS4 to my monitor, mainly to avoid the need of switching the DVI cables when i need to use PS4 with the monitor. I tried DVI-splitter cable, but it seems to only work for 2 monitor setups, not the other way. Only using one of them at time, is there such cable available? I'm using Dell U2312HM, so it has only 1x DVI and VGA, but i don't think VGA is good idea. (http://euro.dell.com/uk/en/corp/Per...2hm/pd.aspx?refid=monitor-dell-u2312hm&s=corp)
Display Port Your link says that monitor has a Display Port. Guaranteed to have Display Port on video card bought in last 4-5 years. VGA itself is fine with 1080p. Its the D->A and A->D converters that might not be 1080p capable. Also, doesnt carry sound. PS4 has headphone port on controller since launch.
Seems to do exactly that. Yea i don't need sound, i use headphones on controller, forgot to mention. So you're suggesting DP cable for pc>monitor? My card has the DP port. So it's either that DVI-switch or DP cable, does it matter which one i take? Seem to be pretty much same price here.
DP cable means one less thing that could fail - if it was me, I'd opt for the DP rather that the DVI switch
That's probably easiest. But can i use DP-DVI or HDMI cable, or adapter like that? Mainly because they're cheaper than DP-DP cables. Edit: It seems that if i buy DP-DVI cable, i would have to put the DP-end to the pc, so that doesn't work.
