Man, I hope my 275+2500k will be up to the task of running this at 1920x1080 high 30fps. I just don't have the money to get a new card now, used up the cash to upgrade my cpu the other month
What's the difference anyway with that ubersampling setting? Does it just add something like super sampling AA? If that's the case, then I can live without that option for now. I did read about a 4890 achieving 30fps in another forum just now so I guess I should be hitting just about the same as well.
It's a bit the same thing, but it look more of what have been shown on Unreal engine lately. Supersampling, render the image at a higher resolution and then downscale it, This mode render a multiple time the same scene/frame and then compile the image out... If it's the same technic shown by AMD, it cost, but the result is excellent.
i dont think that ubersampling will be good for my system this is only meant for "uber" high cpu/gpu i7980/6990
From readme(from game folder), the game has some problems with AMD cards. And no Crossfire support :bang:
There's a rather big NVIDIA related problem there too, also the first patch is out, I think I mentioned the changelog but maybe I didn't. (Patch that downloads when you start the game for the first time via the launcher as to be able to activate and play properly so it can't really be missed.) EDIT: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/1st_patch_changelog_here/page1 And the full readme known issues section. (And some other parts like a description of every setting and requirements.)
Here is that small patch(2nd update) 3MB http://www.mediafire.com/?sv58z4fqk7aaqd7 Some fixes with saves...
A few thoughts on combat and performance, by somebody who is playing the game atm: Spoiler Just finished the retrospective part of Prologue. Oh my... The game doesn't seem to recognize Crossfire. That means I'm unable to play on Ultra, but high is very fluent and looks hawt too. I'm not sure if it's just me but there seems to be an occasional microscopic imput lag in combat. Doesn't really bother me that much but should be mentioned. Note this is the pre patch version. Combat is hard. Even on normal. One on one you're going to be fine, two on one is tricky, three on one is a fight for your life, 4 or more you have no chance. Aard and Yrden are a must, as is blocking. Rolling is not good enough to spam it, better to position yourself correctly. You can't insta switch between swinging your sword and, say blocking, Geralt has to regain some balance beforehand so no kamikaze strikes or you're dead. Yeah, I'm going back to the dungeon. BTW: People who have tried the ubersampling option say that once enabled there are no jaggies whatsoever within the game !
If this is true: 1. It just confirms what John Carmack says in here: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/11/id-softwares-john-carmack-picks-a-side-in-the-nvidiaamd-gpu-war/ 2. If there is not a CAP by tomorrow I will not be purchacing an ATI card for quite a while or until I see proof that they improve their Dev relationships... whether I use RPRO or not HUGE games like this are a given! Are we going to have to wait a month until this is fixed? because personally I want to start and finish the game on Ultra.
Another review, (summary): Seems like most of the reviewers are complaining about the ending! My guess is that it leaves the story hanging, most probably so that the next witcher game can follow it up?!

It was the same for Nvidia cards with Dragon Age 2 at the beginning, will be tit for tat this year i think.
Sure Nvidia have had problems with 2 games that I know of Shogun2TW and DA2 but it seems that 90% of games this year have Xfire problems on release. Very fustrating!
Here is local thread about Carmak's trolling :eyebrows: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=344450 Crossfire support?... I think Radeon Pro will help in this situation
