Well after reading many posts about how easy it is to overclock a Q6600, i finally want to take the plunge to set it at 3.00GHZ. So if any of you clever Gurus want to show me step by step and the correct settings in order for me to overclock that would be really appreciated. Here is a screenshot of my settings as they are now.
Still a tad small but just about read it, best to oc to 3.0ghz then test with prime 95 to see if its stable. and vista eternity ftw ^^
My eyesight must be too good anyway made it larger now. Yer that's what i want to do.....but i would like some advice on how to do it...in simple terms as this will be my first overclock experience. Cheers.
Exactly which mobo and RAM do you have? (recommend adding the info to your profile) The VID of your chip (Real Temp, settings, Core VID, the max figure) and the CPU cooling you have would be usuful information as well.
Now ya getting all techy on me......i'll have a go. GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R 4GB Reaper x HPC DDR2 SDRAM/DDR2 800 (400MHz) QUADCORE Intel core 2 Quad Q6600,2400 MHz (9x267) Not sure how to get the temps and other settings you ask for. As for CPU Cooling dont know the make of it but its a huge Intel heatsink along with 2 Fans running in my tower, that wont help i know.
this is the best place to start Duck. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=227317 it seems long but it will get you well on your way. if you run into any problems just repost here(more people will notice this thread)and well get your oc squared away.
Thank's for that Maxfly, your right it's a long read and it's alot to take in. Looks like the first thing to do is get a new CPU cooler and then take it from there.
