What options are available if you make a short cut from C:\Windows\Explorer.exe ?

What exactly are you looking for? When you press Windows Key and Key E what opens?

Okay, thank you, dragging a shortcut from Windows/Explorer.exe to the desktop allows editing the target!

However, target like (...Explorer.exe C:) then shows okay in the right pane but not in the left pane - see attachment how it should look then in the left side pane. Explorer does not scroll down/up to the expanded tree of C:

Find explorer.exe in C:\windows folder and create a desktop shortcut.
In the Target field change it to C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\ then edit your shortcut key.
You can now remove explorer from taskbar and pin the the new edited explorer.exe

    2) what is.. how it actually looks - rock bottom so to speak

    @Montville

Set the checkbox "Expand to open folder"

Then create shortcut with command line "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/select,C:\Windows" - such shortcut will open Explorer as this
    [IMG]

And if you create shortcut "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,C:\" - it will open this
    [IMG]
PS Looks like shortcut "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe \" opens the same window as "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,C:\".

Try to create some folder on C: drive and use it in shortcut "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/select,C:\Folder"... I mean may be the problem is in access to the root folder or to Windows folder.

Okay, tried it with the Windows folder
    "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/select,C:\Windows"

... and the Windows (dir) is highlighted in the right pane - fine..
..but the left pane is unmoved (still last line at bottom).

Okay, late here me signing off!

Press Windows Key and the key R < Not a capital, press hold the Windows Key and then press key R
The run box window should open.

As mbk1969 has indicated, Copy and paste the following into the Run Box.

    Code:
    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,C:\
Both the left folder tree and the right pane should expand to the whole directory tree.

Look at post #9 in this thread: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/1903-file-explorer.427095/#post-5678639

Verify your Folder options . To get to your folder options quickly, press the Windows Key and release and then type " Folder Explorer Options "
Left click on open and set your options as required.

    Report back

@Montville, You seem to be a little upset because Windows Explorer isn't behaving the way you want it to.
In any case, I'll ignore your question and continue with the troubleshooting of your issue.

I have created a standard user account on my computer just for this troubleshooting.
When I place the following code into the " Run " box
    Code:
    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,C:\
Windows Explorer opens with the left and right directory trees expanded.
Would you verify your folder options are set to the following settings.

WoW, your File Explorer displays great but not HERE

Here it is and I can't post images like you:
    https://pasteboard.co/Ij0CMWd.jpg

just believe that - tree expansion yes, but NO auto scroll up like your FE - I need to do it manually to see the expanded tree!

can we give that a rest, please! Maybe my next clean 1903 install will behave better?
