Ok got them loaded on a Vista32bit with a 9800GTX and a XP pro 32bit with a 8600GT and both installs look good. I did run into a odd problem with the Vista machine cause I had both drivers on a USB key..I for some reason clicked to install the XP drivers but they still showed as Vista32bit and installed...they didn't look right sure enough but usually they prompt to say they won't work..I wonder what they changed here??

IQ looks good on both machines and video playback looks good on both. I'll test BF2 and Crysis warhead later on the Vista machine.

rivatuner works ok for monitor & profiles if you follow the instructions here:
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=3125112&postcount=9

and btw if you install nvidia system tools you can easily control geforce fan:

This is true, on xp32 here and the install doesn't ask to reboot and actually loaded the driver normally (did this too with 185.81). I rebooted right away anyway, of course. :)

It's just nvidia drunkedness at work again, seems .0408 is such a minor internal tweak or something that they didn't even bother changing anything about the version number except for the .exe setup file name. (The original .0203 file and the .0408 file do binary-compare different.) :biggun:

RivaTuner isn't working with these drivers, it says my display is not detected???

This has never happened before with any driver.

Omg these drivers are HORRID! I play Empire total war a few hours ago on those new 182.50 drivers and the graphical glitching at startup error was FIXED! It worked wonderfully.

So I see these drivers and foolishly thought they were bug-free since it is WHQL afterall, but now not only does Rivatuner not detect my card, (forcing me to download Ncrap system tools), but Empire has the same graphical glichty crap all the other 185 betas had.

    Back to 182.50....

These drivers working very good on my rig, all games runs great. Tested them with Crysis, Crysis Warhead, CoD4, Grid and CoH OF.
Riva Tuner isn't work with these drivers on my system, but there is eVGA precision tool and it's working great.

Can anyone using Windows XP SP2 (or SP3) x86 confirm that RivaTuner 2.24 reports a missing nvapi.dll file in the main menu (under the "File" column) with those drivers? Because that's what I see, but I'm currently using Windows XP SP2 x64 Edition, and I wanted to know if it was related to the OS version rather than RivaTuner and/or the drivers.

RivaTuner isn't working cause these new drivers are WDDM v1.1. All the older releases where WDDM v1.0, I take it RivaTuner was not designed to read the newer driver model at all.

This is also why people using XP have no problems cause XP doesn't use WDDM at all.

Interesting install. I initially installed directly over the 185.81;s which ran flawlessly w/o the reported nvidia control panel delay issue. After installing the 185.85's I now had the nvidia control panel delay of about 5 seconds or so...Naturally my first words were fugh this...Anyhow I uninstalled the driver, ran Driver Cleaner, reinstalled the 185.85 and now the delay is around a second or so which I can live with.

Well I'm on XP (x64 Edition) and I am seeing a problem with RT, as I mentioned in my post, it reports a missing file. But it doesn't seem to actually cause problems during game-play (I've tested a few games). In the meantime I think I will wait until RT releases another version to support the new driver model. But thanks for the information, maybe that's indeed the cause of the problem.

I can live without RivaTuner until they release a new version, but can they please find out what is causing my graphical flickering in Empire total war?

It only happens with the 185 drivers but not 182!
