    You might be able to find a solution in this thread, HockeyMaster:

    I just tried installing an older driver and got the same effect. Upon restart after install, I got a BSOD preventing windows from starting in any mode. Everything was working Saturday night, but not when I turned it on Sunday.

    I know it's the driver because I've isolated/controlled for it after restores. Comp works fine when it's not installed.

    please help. Medieval II and Call of Duty 4 are awesome. I'd like to be able to play them again.

    I've solved my problem almost completely. This is for people who are still viewing in ultra low res and have 4bit color.

    Solution -

    Step 1 - Browse to C:/nVidia Forceware or something similar.

    Step 2 - Uninstall using the file named uninstall, or, again, something similar.

    Step 3 - Download and Run DriverSweeper by Guru3D. Select to sweep all nVidia Display drivers.

    Step 4 - Reinstall your previous drivers.

    Step 5 - Restart.

    This should fix everything, like it did for me. Unforunatly I still have very limited options in the nVidia Control Panel, which I'm still trying to fix.

    I tested vista x86 with 178.13 and 15. O.C fails when running Crysis Warhead with Rivatuner 2.11. But O.C works perfect with XP x86, same drivers, and Rivatuner 2.11 with same recommended inno3d 8800gt O.C clock speeds

    I get blue screen now with any nVidia driver, including old ones. It occurs upon reboot and prevents windows from starting.

    If you can boot into safe mod and uninstall the driver from there, then reinstall a good/safe driver.

    No, I never had the need.

    It seems others are having similar problems with the 178.15, and as I am quite satisfied with side's modded 178.13, I will be passing on 178.15.

    Unfortunately, I never get the option to do safe mode. I have run Driver Sweeper but to no avail.

    * Restart the computer.
    * Once it turns back on again, start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
    * Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
    * Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
    * When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

    OR, you could do this:

    * Close all open programs.
    * Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
    * The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
    * The computer restarts in Safe mode.
    * Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode. When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer

    On some ASUS boards F8 is temp boot menu. If that happens wait untill it does a hard drive check then hit F8 for safe mode....:)

    I've had no problems. Did you install the updated link with the missing files included?

    Your GPU might be faulty... Have you tried installing it in a other PC?
