Well I decided to do a few benchmarks of my own to compare the last 3 drivers released. Be aware that in my benchmarks I am running everything in highest quality but NO AA. All tests were done with PhysX 8.08.01 and are based on an average of 4 runs.

    My test rig:
    Windows Vista X64
    q6600 @ 3500.00
    Evga 9800 GTX+
    2x2 pc8500 OCZ Reaper 5-5-5-15 @ 1089
    XFX 780i MB

    177.79

    3Dmark06
    14,682

    Nurien
    Avg FPS 53.54

    FluidMark
    Avg FPS 85 @ 1920/1200

    Metal Knight Zero
    Avg FPS 61 @ 1920/1200

    3DMark Vantage
    P8675

    177.83

    3DMark06
    14,679

    Nurien
    Avg FPS 53.94

    FluidMark
    Avg FPS 85 @ 1920/1200

    Metal Knight Zero
    Avg FPS 60 @ 1920/1200

    3DMark Vantage
    P8681.5

    177.89

    3DMark06
    14,684.5

    Nurien
    Avg FPS 54.74

    FluidMark
    Avg FPS 87 @ 1920/1200

    Metal Knight Zero
    Avg FPS 59 @ 19200/1200

    3DMark Vantage
    P8196

Vantage score is way low on 177.89 compared to previous drivers??
I think the 177.79 have the best REAL WORLD results for my system; however, the 177.83 seem to give almost identical results and are ROCK STABLE.

    ENJOY!

not trying poop on your charade or anything but any differences within a 5% tolerance may as well be N/A.

Yea I agree to an extent. I've done comparison shots between different drivers before and found them to be bit for bit the same, only to come onto the forums and see someone say "wow the iq is so much better in these ones". Though, there are some drivers that change texture settings internally and do effect the image. Most of the time it just changes the way textures are rendered a bit, it's not better or worse, it's just different.

I have had no stability issues whatsoever since the 177.79 drivers. However I did pick up about 10 fps in COD4 by going to the 177.83 drivers and about 4-5 fps in Crysis with the 177.83 as well. I personally think the IQ is the best with the 177.89 driver but I am gonna stick with the 177.83 for right now. All games and apps work perfectly with all 3 of these; however, in 3DMark Vantage and the 177.89 driver when the test is done my monitor turns off and says no signal till I move the mouse...weird. Games Ive played:

    UT3
    Doom 3
    Crysis
    COD4
    Warmonger
    Graw 2
    WIC
    Quake Wars Demo

Here's a chart snippet of 177.xx drivers just posted in my web site:

177.83 was impressive! I'll have to try 177.89 and report back! http://www.alcomsplace.com/

I agree. The 177.79's actually produced some higher max FPS in some cases but the 177.83's had higher min and avg FPS and I think that's what matters the most and are very stable for me.

Anyone else noticed the 480+ points drop in 3DMark Vantage with the 177.89's compared to the two previous ones? Or maybe it was a typo?

Definitely was NOT a typo. I thought that was crazy too. Both the CPU and GPU scores were lower when I used those drivers. Like I said Ill stick with the 177.83's for now.
