I know that the 169.0x drivers are directed at the 8800 series cards, but these are the first in a long time that are buggy on my 7950 GX2 (x64). They run WIC a little bit faster and 3DMark06 scores are higher than with the 163.xx drivers, but games that use a joystick (FSX, Madden 08 and all the other EA games) have good video, but experience joystick glitches (buttons going into endless repeats) and audio distortion and drop outs. I uninstalled these and went all the way back to 163.69.

My 3DMARK06 result with the latest drivers :

    Drivers 163.71 (WHQL) : 9774 pts (
    SM2.0 : 4501 / SM3.0 : 4608 / CPU : 2169)
    Drivers 169.01 (Beta) : 10124 pts (SM2.0 : 4604 / SM3.0 : 4950 / CPU : 2174)
    Drivers 169.02 (Beta) : 10278 pts (SM2.0 : 4692 / SM3.0 : 4090 / CPU : 2159)
    Drivers 169.04 (Beta) : 10285 pts (SM2.0 : 4646 / SM3.0 : 5124 / CPU : 2171)

Keep your good job NVidia !!! :D

But after the setup of the 169.01 and all version after the Timesift Demo wont start.
when I run it, it loads for a sec, I see a Timeshif window open up then it gone and nothing happens, no windows, no alerts, nothing. It just return to windows.

I hope someone can help me for that.

    Bye

These drivers rock in Crysis. They are much, much smoother. No more chop or long pauses.

Also I do not have any issue with loading save games.

    I've run Crysis 32bit client and 64bit in DX10 on Vista 64.

Make sure you are running in 32Bit and then rerun the Windows Vista Experience Index - that thing that gives you the 4.7 or 5.9 scoring.

After the test completed Auro will come back.

I haven't tried these ones out yet but, I did try 169.02 and they gave me a 2000 and some odd points boost. I was only getting 8000 something and now im getting 10000 something. Hopefully this ones will boost it a lil more. I thought a score of about 8000 was low for 8800gts 320. Now with that score I will be fine. Oh and that was in 3dmark 06.

I don't get it. I'm running Vista64, and the 163.75 runs Crysis better than the 169's do for me.

DNA modified drivers maker said these drivers have improvements on older video cards too (6x and 7x)

I wonder if this is true, if so, cant wait for a final release

These drivers are excellent for the Crysis SP Demo. They gave me a 10% framerate increase over the 169.01 betas with the following custom autoexec.cfg I use @1024x768 resolution.

I use vista 64 and crysis locks up hard for me if i use any of the new 169 drivers but the game runs fine with any of the 163s.

Id compare it with run 1 if i was you, there is a lot of loading during the first run, so it can give inaccurate results (due to hard drive access).

Id tried it myself and got a very mild increase, but im talking < 0.5FPS

Yes here too, with all the 169 drivers a hardlock on vista x64, after 20 seconds or so in game. Might been a SLI issue?
Im going to try it with & without

SLI dont work in demo, so it pointless to try it with SLI

AMEN to that, brother! As a UT veteran, I KNOW that this is perhaps the best/most popular classic game of all time--yet Nvidia's drivers are breaking that game and other UT-based games like Deus Ex.

If Nvidia did that to Quake3, Nvidia would be incurring John Carmack's wrath, and he would be voicing himself out against Nvidia through the press releases.

Remember we used to flame ATI a few years ago for their terrible drivers? Sadly, Nvidia is going back there, changing the whole driver compatibility features with older games just for a few newer games like Crysis and UT3?!? Why can't Nvidia just leave those older games alone--if Nvidia doesn't have time to test compatibility, then DONT change anything for older games! Nvidia should at least include a 'compatibility mode' that implements tried-and-true older versions, like M$ does with Windows for 95/98/NT/2000.

Now I can't even overclock with the latest version of Ntune or Rivatuner with those 169 FW's!

Is it because Nvidia does not want us to be oc'ing the hell out of 8800GT's just yet? Or else we'd all hate Nvidia for letting 8800GT beat the feces outta our $500 cards! Ever notice how the screw holes in 8800GT is changed so that it's incompatible with popular aftermarket coolers of today? It's the same as 8600GT's--with those awful single-slot coolers. Guess who's the most pissed off? Thermalright, Zalman, etc.. because it just gives their CEO's headaches. Imagine all those board meetings held by executives right now deciding on whether to release yet another revision for 8800GT's.

Anybody else notice the new Stereo3D feature in 169 drivers?

Man, is UT implemented using OpenGL? Cause whats broke on the new 169 driver is its OpenGL implementation... so, EVERY game that uses it are broken now (including Quake 3, NWN, etc afaik).
In these newest releases, Nvidia is clearly aiming at DX10, so stick with the older drivers if you want to play UT that badly and wait for a more complete driver release.
We are talking about beta drivers here, so dont expect every feature to be implemented within every release.
